I'm a very happy bunny today, I went for a ride, for the first time in over 3 months, since I wrote off the M2. I've not been able to 'til recently due to not having enough strength in my hands & wrists, but that's all ok now, however I haven't got another bike yet, & I wasn't sure if the spark was still there, it seemed a bit dumb to go buy a bike only to find I'd lost my bottle. So a friend lent me one of his beemers & we went out for a little pootle round some local roads, & I don't mind saying I was rather twitchy at first, but I settled down & got back to his place with a big grin & contented feeling. The wife said that she supposed I was going to go out & buy another Buell & was a bit surprised when I said no. But she knew I was ok when I said I was going to buy 2! Well I need a tuber to replace the M2 but I've just GOT to have a TT as well!  | ||

Sean, it's a hooligan tool, when I test rode one I thought the top of my head was going to fall off, my grin was that wide! Also it's an XB that fits me, the S is too small, the Uly too tall, but the TT is just right, now where did that f*****g bear leave his porridge? | ||

I love mine! 1st bike in 25 years, 1st Buell and I'm sold for life! Roads are bad here lots and frost heave and Chunking but this thing bombs right on through like nothings wrong. Birdy | ||

if i said it once grump and i'll say it again, the tt is the closest thing to the m2 that you'll ever get which makes it the second best bike to ride. go for it. but what's gonna be the 2nd bike. | ||

Thank you all for your kind words, the last few weeks have been kind of strange, knowing I'm back to the physical capability, (thanks in the most part to madame making me work around the place!) but not being sure if the confidence would still be there. Also hearing bikes ripping along the by-pass, while I'm working in the garden on a sunny afternoon, added another element to the mix. So my brand new Shoei is no longer a virgin & has it's first bug splat, & I know I can still cut it. Hello? Mr Bank Manager? I wonder if you........................ | ||

The TT is an elemental bike that just does lots of things well. Court, that's a far too grown up response to describe a hooligan tool, surely? In fact, I won't be happy until I hear you in your usual style year in year out, laud it up as the second best bike ever built. At least then we'll know there's a huge element of fun in your second choice. Now about those old M2. Surely the S1 blew 'em out of the water  Rocket | ||

Cool! Tuber Wars! Brings back good memories  As an M2 owner, I would have agreed with you Rocket... then I rode one. Fine bike, no doubt, and the best looking thing ever built with two wheels. But riding it did more to make me miss my M2 then make me want an S1. (ducking now...) I wish my 9sx had that longer TT frame (just because I am a big fella). anyone wanna bet how long it will take to hear from an S2 owner here? (Message edited by reepicheep on October 23, 2007) | ||

Tuber wars   The M2 is a good all-around bike. Lots of folks have thinned their's down to be more S1-ish. I wouldn't mind having an S1 some day. The localest Buell dealer to me has a TT sitting in their shop. I haven't sat on it yet, but looking at it it appears as though it could be the all-arounder of the X frames currently available. But I'm waiting until Spring and Summer while the M2 slowly sits For Sale waiting for the right tuber shopper. Grumpy, welcome back to the saddle. It's going to be a great 2008.  | ||

Good for you, Grump! Glad the spark is still there! Wish you all would stop raving about the TT though. (Just kidding,LOL) I ordered an 08 in August, the dealer expected a Dec-ish delivery. Then he called; the production schedule pushed it back to Jan. Then he called Fri to say it's now looking like Maaybe Phase 3 of production. Indicates all Buell resorces (at this time) are focused on the 1125R. AARGH!! With axle sliders sitting on the floor, and no place to put them. Ah, well, as long as it arrives by April, when one can expect to ride in this area. | ||

This S1 deserves a thread all of its own. I came across this British built special about 8 years ago, and wondered where or even if it had survived. eBay UK It's not quite as I saw it when it was first built, but it still has the really cool twin muffler set-up on it. It is the battery box, and I didn't like it there the first time I saw it. I don't remember who made the frame, but as much as I don't remember it being Spondon, I seem to think it was. I remember that it had a really wide look about it when viewed from above. Maybe Steve (UK BEG) knows more. To be honest, I'm tempted for some dumb reason to want to bid on it. Just had a letter today from the French equivalent of the DMV, my M2 is classed as repairable, even though the insurance said not. I've found an authorised frame straightening company near Paris, so just maybe my baby will rise again!! Knowing the French there will be a good number of administrative hoops to jump through first though. | ||

It's great to hear of your two-wheeled re-awakening Innes, and also that your Cyclone may ride again. I'm one of those types who gets attached to a motorcycle, so in your place, I'd be very happy to hear that news. I hope you feel similarly. I forgot your national origin, not French? | ||

P'tui, me? French? nah ex-pat Brit of Scot's/English heritage & proud of it. & yes I am a sentimental soul, but I have to be pragmatic too, so the calculator is out at the moment trying to work out if it'll be much cheaper to buy another bike & keep this one for spares or put this one back on the road. |
