Still not 100% sure yet. Chaz has rejected the Ducati/Bridgestone test rider offer but is still hanging in for a possible ride in Moto GP before committing to AMA for '08. I think a firm decision will be made before the final GP of the year. There are still one or two possibilities open in GP for him I think. |

Just from what was said in the BBC coverage of the GP last weekend and from the Motorcycle News. Chaz said that he wants to be racing next year, if possible in MotoGP but if not then he has offers in AMA and BSB to fall back on. There are still a couple of places unconfirmed for 2008 in the GP lineup I think (D'Antin still have one berth unconfirmed and Gresini Honda have still to confirm a second rider). Maybe Chaz is holding out for one of them, or for Rossi's ride when he decides to race WSB instead of GP racing next year ;) |

Rossi wants to take on Max, after Max had such a sensational rookie season in WSB. Rumour has it Rossi is using Max as his excuse. The real reason is Rossi favours racing the Pirelli control tyre. Rocket |

I love what Max said about Rossi. That Rossi's been racing against him before Rossi even made it to MotoGP. Faster is an excellent movie! |

I love what Max said about Rossi. That Rossi's been racing against him before Rossi even made it to MotoGP. What Max failed to say was that Rossi was beating him even before he made it to GP. The old saying 'You should be careful who you upset on the way up, as you may meet them on the way back down' would apply to Max at the moment methinks . |

Speaking of Max according to MotorcycleDaily.com Max has a new ride. He's set to be on a WSB Ducati next season. I think that Max bought into the hype that the Marlboro people were generating about him. He let his ego get in the way of winning and spent his best years making excuses instead of really learning why Rossi had his number and doing something to change it. Sad really. It was always someone else's fault Max wasn't at the top of the podium in his eyes. |

"It was always someone else's fault Max wasn't at the top of the podium in his eyes" I think this is starting to happen to Rossi, since it is getting difficult for him in the motoGP. |

The only thing that happened to Biaggi was Rossi. Sadly I think Biaggi was marked as second best. Rossi was and still is the golden boy who can do no wrong. Biaggi I believe got somewhat overlooked by some. Major upheavals in bike GP seemed to place the bad luck on Biaggi every time. Biaggi should have been left to carry on. He's one of the only guys in the sport that's not phased by Rossi on track. Great racer. I think the politics within the sport have robbed the fans of some great racing. Who gives a shit if he's a temperamental Italian? Aren't they all? Rocket |

According to Rossi's book, Rossi took a lot of heat from the Italian press. The US may have looked at him more favorably, but the Italian press portrayed him as a trouble maker. From what I have read in recent Biaggi interviews, he seemed to get his ego back in check. |

Back to the subject of the thread......It appears that Chaz is on the verge of signing for Attack Kawasaki to ride their ZX6 in both AMA Supersport and Formula Extreme next year. Good for him, top ride He has suffered some appalling luck in his MotoGP appearances over the last few weeks, and is wise to go back to the USA for a year to rebuild his career rather than spend the year testing for Ducati. Good luck to him next year. I think he'll be a force to reckon with in AMA racing on a decent bike. |

Chaz is a fun guy, and a great racer, but methinks that he is too big physically for MotoGP. It was apparent to me that he just wasn't ready for that move. also. He wasn't exactly dominating in the support classes of AMA. I would think the Roger Lee Hayden would get the call before Chaz anyday. |

Although Chaz didn't exactly cover imself in glory during his last three races for D'Antin, I would not write him off just yet. He is a tall lad, but so is Rossie, Ruben Xaus and Kevin Schwantz, so that is no handicap. You have to remember that in the racing game it is as much who you know as what you know. None of the teams know anything about Roger Lee Hayden other than what they saw at Laguna last year. Unless Kawasaki USA put pressure on the factory to get TL Hayden a ride I can't see it happening. Chaz is known to the teams and team managers, sponsors, organisers etc and already knows the tracks and the GP paddock, so is seen as a safer option. More US based riders need to come to Europe and race in 125/250GP or even WSB/WSS in order to get noticed by the teams that count, as there is no longer a culture of bringing American riders straight into MotoGP like there was in the days of Rainey, Schwantz & Co. |
