For those coming out to Willow for Inside Pass, Here's the dinner plan: Zuma's Italian Restaurant on Tuesday. Maps, directions on their website (they're easy to find) http://www.zumas.us/ Arrive at 7 PM, should give folks coming up from the other side of the hill plenty of time... kitchen closes at 9. See you there! Dinner Tuesday or on the track Wednesday!! |

Traffic alert for those coming to Willow Springs - check for the road closure of the 5 freeway in the Newhall pass. Last night there was a HUGE collision in the overpass/tunnel and 24 hours later, it's still burning. The 5 is supposed to be closed AT LEAST through Tuesday and they're already reporting SIGNIFICANT damage to the concrete structure of the tunnel and thus the 5 where Northbound traffic crosses the tunnel. You should check - but the San Diegans ought to plan on coming up the 15, Glendalians up and over the ACH route. Gonna be terrible traffic for a week or more. |

It was IN the tunnel in the southbound 5 NORTH of the junction with the 14. The fire broke up the concrete, meaning the roadway over the top isn't safe. This'll be bad for a while. FORTUNATELY, it does seem the 14 Northbound route might be open this AM. Traffic is gonna be a beyotch. From the CHP (through AP)
quote:ALTERNATE ROUTES The California Highway Patrol has provided alternate routes because of the closure of Interstate 5 near Santa Clarita. Northbound from Los Angeles to Bakersfield, Sacramento: Take northbound I-5 to state Route 14, continue north to state Route 58 in Mojave and head west to state Route 99. Southbound to Los Angeles from Sacramento, Bakersfield: Take southbound I-5 to state Route 126, continue west to state Route 101 and head south. Eastbound Route 126 to the Palmdale-Lancaster area: Take northbound I-5 to state Route 138; continue east. Another route is eastbound on Route 126, which becomes Newhall Ranch Road; continue east to Bouquet Canyon Road and then turn west. Continue west to Soledad Canyon Road, turn left and continue east to Route 14.

Steve's right. Jack and Cindy (and Shelly, if I can convince her) and I will take ACH to AFH to the 14 to Zuma's in Rosamond. Take the 2 (ACH) north. About three miles past La Canada, turn left on Angeles Forest Hwy. Mind the signs to stay on AFH to the 14. Turn right on Sierra Hwy and then left onto the entrance ramp for the 14N. We are hoping to be there before nightfall 'cause it gets dark in the woods. Watch out for critter crossing. Slaughter, can you confirm that there is gas for sale at the track. Also, are there noise restrictions? |

There IS gas for sale - they have VP 91 octane unleaded (basically high quality pump gas), 100 octane unleaded and 110 octane leaded. That is all VP gas in ATM/Credit pumps. Just roll up like you do any gas station. You're talking to the guy known for having the LOUDEST racebike at Willow Springs - NO - There are NO noise restrictions!!! (not this year - they are talking about some down the road in the future - I'll need another exhaust at that time) |

Back from Willow Springs. Beat. Happy. Can't wait to do it again. Chicken strips gone. Footpegs ground. I need to put the rearsets back on before Laguna Seca. Thanks Steve for the heads up on the in and outs. The Deuce and a QuarteR (I renamed it, you heard it here first.) rocks. It is wheelie fast and crash tested tough, fortunately not by me, and no body badly hurt. I can't wait to see the pictures. |

Howdy All!! First...Yes , once the fellow returned to the track we had a good talk. After that he came over several times with apology and was very sincere. Turned out we had met at Palomar a month earlier and had a great discussion on Buells and I believe I was the one whom discussed the "Inside Pass" thing with him in the first place!...Go Figure!...Things like this happen on a track and I hold no grudge. He is a "Good Guy" and just had a moment.I hope to ride with him again and hope to find him "with Buell" next time! (He rides a beautiful BMW amongst other bikes). Though Ernie had to go dirt tracking to avoid this I'm very glad he got around it. I have a few sore ribs and a swollen left thumb but I'm just fine and may try a short ride Tommorrow..(after I post up some more of those pics of course!) Incident aside , I had an incredibly good time riding the 1125s...I mean "Deuce and a Quarter" (credit to Andrew Scammon) of course! And as everyone else has said...WOW!!!...theres no mistaking the capabilities and quality of this new member of Erik's Mcycle-Band...Fine job Elves and I'm so looking forward to riding this machine at Laguna! In the next couple of days I will finish my "Comparison to the Tuono" and will post on such thread. And Danny , Yes it was an 1125r and no , it was the third session.Think a little pain could stop me?Got checked out by Medical and went back out for a couple more sessions...once those of you whom weren't at an Inside Pass ride this bike you'll see why...Oh yeah , as far as this bike instilling confidence???? how about......."Got Flypaper??"

For those coming out to Willow today, we are leaving the BBQ home. The wind is going to be blowing this afternoon and sandburgers weren't well received the last time we tried (and the wind actually blew over the BBQ!) Sorry about that! No free lunch today (bummer) Please DO come out! If the weather gets crappy, there's always Vista del Hurley for shelter! The National Weather Service is advising caution for the area here. Just be aware that as you come over the Crest, it'll pick up in the Antelope Valley so be ready for gustiness. NORTHWEST TO NORTH WINDS WILL WILL SHIFT TO THE NORTHEAST THIS MORNING. WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO BE GUSTY 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 55 MPH. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST AND SAND WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH VISIBILITIES DROPPING TO NEAR ZERO AT TIMES. WINDS SHOULD BEGIN TO DIMINISH SOME THIS EVENING. (Message edited by slaughter on October 21, 2007) |

We just received a possible evacuation phone call from emergency services because of the fires. San Diego county has several huge fires fanned by high winds and Santa Ana temperatures. The sky is literally orange red above my house right now and blue sky several hundred yards to the north of me. Winds were raging throughout the night. A S B might become my evacuation destination if the situation deteriorates. Al and Joanne received the same evacuation preparation call this morning. |

Pretty scary indeed. We could smell the smoke from the foothill fires in the Yorba Linda/Anaheim Hills areas last night from my son's place in Norwalk. I was wondering, are there any satellite images on the web that would show the area in real or near real time, kinda like a webcam in the sky? |

I just got home from my office in Foothill Ranch where we watched the OC fire burn slowly in our direction. Yes, we could see the flames. Sorry I didn't have my camera. Big shots closed the office at Noon. Tom, You, Laurie and all the Lightons are welcome here at my house in Long Beach if you need to leave the area. Andrew |

Boy, the whole place is on fire. We watched the smoke from the Agua Dulce fires while we were at Willow yesterday. I got stuck in a Sigalert due to another fire at the 15/215 while others from our contingent got stuck one at Sunland, all while others were waiting on evac orders.... Hope everyone is safe! |

Just loaded up with emergency Guinness supplies so we are gonna tough it out at home. It is still smoky outside and ash is all over the place. We are under voluntary evacuation in Carlsbad but mandatory drinking rules are in effect. This is so wigged out that even the jets are bugging out of Miramar. Lighton just bought a generator after experiencing a power failure earlier today so A S B can now go into 24 hour operation to better serve the Buell community. |

We didn't make our UPS shipment today due to a power outage at work. Power has been restored, but too late to get the packages out. Hopefully tomorrow we can get all the weekend and Monday/Tuesday packages out. Joanne and Zach are hunkered down at American Sport Bike where the air is much cleaner, I'm hanging at home to shoot the looters (just kidding, all is well, just very thick and smelly). |
