Some time ago someone posted some pictures of a Lightning with a Ulysses flyscreen and windshield. It sounded like the install was easy. All they needed to do was drill new holes in the flyscreen to mount it to the brackets. Is it as simple as this? I would like some wind protection on the highway. Is the bracket that the flyscreen bolts to on the Uly the same as the Lightning except for the hole placement? Will the two bolts on each side of the flyscreen be strong enough to handle the force from the wind on the windscreen? |

Hi Brucen, Well I`ll answer your question, With one day experience so far... Just installed what you said on my wife`s 05 xbscg She likes it, ( stock height) I think it looks good just about as if it came stock that way... Much better for the road so far she had it up to around say 80 or 90 mph and like I said she likes it.... I did install it by laying the stock one on the inside and just lining it up so everything look equal side to side top to bottom etc, you will see not hard to do, I drilled one hole in center say around 1/16 just in case I had to jiggle it abit ,Before I drilled it larger... I did one at a time and then stuck a bolt in that just to hold it in place and moved on to the next hole.... Btw I do believe the brackets are all different...I still have to find 6 little black plugs just to stick in the stock holes, that you won`t be using... I`ll add the same ? as you since Like I said only been on for one day...Will them four bolts be Strong enough to hold this unit on,Also Will them bolts Also support It if I went and put the 4 inch longer screen on as well??? Remember we are talking Highway speeds Plus...The wife sort of Lives on the Edge as well :-) Hope some of that helps... |

Might look at this as well. I'm thinking of ordering one in clear and painting the "Fly screen" part to look factory. Birdy http://www.ceebaileys.com/buell/lightningxb9_xb12. html |

+1 on the Ceebaileys. Works great. I haven't found another direct fit windscreen that's any larger. Got mine in clear and it doesn't look nearly as offensive as the tinted ones in the picture. In fact, the first time I took a road trip with it my riding buddy didn't even notice it. I switch my stocker out for this one anytime I'm going on a multi-day trip. Because of this, I haven't bothered painting the lower half. The removing and reinstalling would scratch off some of the paint where the windscreen contacts the bracket and prob wouldn't look so good without constant touchup. Nels |

I have the ceebaileys and it still wasn't enough for comfortable long-distance riding. I picked up a universal cruiser windshield off ebay and I'm in the process of trimming it to fit to the ceebaileys as sort of an extended laminar lip. |

Thulsadoom - I'd love to post pics but my digital camera just crapped out and I don't have it installed now anyway. I think there's a pic somewhere on here of a clear Ceebailey's installed on a blue CityX with the lower piece painted. Marksm - Let us know how your project works out. Without any larger windscreens available, custom work is the only way to go. Nels |

Thank you Forerunner. That looks much better than the dark one on ceebaileys website. Hogs, how about some pics of the Uly windscreen on the cg? |
