I removed the airbox, spk plugs and the exhaust servo on my '05 XB12S to adj my primary chain, buttoned it all back up, fired it up and after about 5-10 sec. of idling the check engine light comes on????? I removed the tank cover and verified that the servo is functioning, plug wires are tight........ Any ideas? (stock ecm and air filter, drummer, snorkel removed. Only change this go round was snorkel removal. 1600 miles on bike)Thanks Kenny |

Are you sure you plugged the air temp sensor back in? That would do it. |

Short pins 1&2 on the diagnostic connector (under seat, back by tail light, right side, grey connector with black rubber plug), put the bike in run mode (key and kill switch on, in neutral), and count the blinks. 6 fast flashes 2 second pause 1 flash per second for first number 2 second pause 1 flash per second for the second number 2 second pause repeat. Tell us the number that is flashed out and we'll tell you what isn't working. (Message edited by al_lighton on October 20, 2007) |

It probably wasn't clear from what I wrote. Short the pins with the bike off, THEN turn the key on while the pins are short, to put it in diagnostic mode. |

Guys, thank you for all of the help. I just pulled my head outta my ass and looked in the svce. manual and found everything that you were talking about, Al. I didn't know that there was a diag. mode that didn't use the scan tool to display codes......go figure. Thanks again....Kenny |
