I tell you I feel cursed here. I rolled her out started her up to warm up as I was told to. Turned to put on my gear and she fell over. Broke the foot peg, blinker and clutch leaver. $50.00 worth of stuff and at least a week until I can ride it waiting on the peg. Also seems to be a leak on the case at the inspection cover, hoping that's just where oil splashed up.

Maybe I should buy a Little Rascal! I've never had such bad luck.

My buddy had his XB fall over twice while he owned it from walking away while it was running. Just not a good idea with these bikes.

For all the engineering, you'd think they'd come up with a kickstand that actually held the bike up.

If you are gonna leave a Buell running with your back turned, she will throw herself on the ground pissed because you are not paying attn. Mine did it too, but only on un level surfaces.

Never had a problem with my sidestand. I think it's pretty stable.

I think it's designed pretty well.

When idling high, mine slides backwards. This pushes in to the kickstand, not off of the kickstand.

Deffinately want to watch that its not at a slight downhill though. I picked someones XB up at Mid Ohio that fell over in the parking lot.

You just need to make sure that you pull the bike back to make sure the stand is extended fully. I know because I dropped mine as it warmed up in the driveway. It was because I didn't have the kickstand fully extended. I broke the foot peg and that is about all--maybe my handguard protected the clutch lever.

The kickstand on the XB's is just barely past "toggle position", which explains why it can fall over.

I just am very careful to make sure the kickstand is fully deployed before putting the weight of the bike on it.

You could fix this tendency by grinding off some material on the kickstand stop, making the fully deployed position further past the toggle point. I've seen somebody on here before that's done that easy mod.

I've noted that depending upon the suspension settings on the bike that it will vibrate differently. When I adjusted the bike's preload and comp/reb. settings for my riding it didn't shake as bad or roll backwards anymore. Maybe this will help?

Live and learn (I hope). I'll watch her like a hawk from now on. What pisses me off is I read all the post on this way back when and still let the bike fall over.

This could be the last nice weekend of the year too! In the mid 70s and sunny (rare in Indiana!) and next week they say the temp going to drop like a stone.

I ordered the parts, fixed the shift lever it was bent as well.

Maybe it's for the best I wanted to ride in to work tomorrow. By law to ride other than in daylight is a big NO NO, learners permit only at this time.

I can just see it now "Press had Please Six Copies, Sir" Yes Officer.

I was taught in the basic rider MSF class that I should never start my motorcycle until I'm sitting on it. And this is one I tend to agree with.

If you think the XB's are bad, the S2's were notorious! Unless you did the heat and bend, they stood up sooo straight it was a poor bet that they would stay standing up. Even after bending mine I always kept my leg against the bag to make sure she was not trying to get away w/o me!

I grinded off some of the kick stand stop. Ive NEVER had the bike fall off the kick stand, even in un-level surfaces. I found that some of the import bikes have kickstands that just baffle me. They are almost vertical. I mean, the wind will nock the bike off the stand! What were they thinking???

Have an 03 XB9R have no problems although it will walk backwards on the smooth garage floor. When stopping always take time to fully extend the stand, have noticed that it will hang up in the last 1/2 inch of travel so always check once off the bike by lifting bike off stand and giving it a kick. As for leaving unattended while warming up, answer this would you leave you missus unattended while she's warming up?

My 06 Uly fell over 3 times the first month I had it.

I had to go "old school" on it's azz, but now the problem is solved.

I guess I've been lucky. We have a gravel driveway and start the bikes up all the time (on the gravel) to warm up and have never had one fall, yet.

Didn't somebody discover that the passenger pegs will interchange or at least work temporarily for a rider peg? Could get you on the road for a week while waiting for parts.

Xring I have a Super TT no rear pegs at all. I am going up to Coldwater, MI tomorrow to a place that sells dirt bikes and see if he has any pegs I can use. I looked at a Honda and it looks like they'd fit..the owner'd have a fit if I tried to get them though! and it doesn't even run!

I am kinda of bummed that it broke so easy and am looking at some the American Sportbike has for the long term but right now I want back on the road.

You can cure all your kickstand problems by just buying an S2.
They don't call them "tripods" for nothing!

Explain to me the week. Your dealer does not have this stuff in stock?

If not, you need to take a very serious look.

I needed a clutch lever for a BLAST a couple weeks ago, walked into Liberty and they had 4 in stock.

Any dealer that does not have a set of turn signals, foot pegs and levers in stock should be ashamed.

I'd like to know the name of the dealership.

out of our two dealerships we dont sell buells anymore (been like 3 years) and we could still get you those parts today, (or some odd m2 motor mount that has been there forever) Give those guys hell at the dealership, or at least ask them wtf?

Treadmarks...can you recall the size of the shoulder bolt?

The shoulder bolt (socket head capscrew with shoulder) has a shoulder length of 1" and a shoulder width of 0.500". It uses 3/8" x 16 tpi (NC) retaining hardware. With the washer installed, it allows you to preload the stand to eliminate side play at the pivot point. I installed it with high temp marine grease and red loctite. The side stand is now smooth and reliable, both up or down.

Court the Dealer is Town & Country Sport Center. If you read what happened when I got the bike I'd say they DO care. BUT I tried all 6 dealers in 100 miles and none had the peg. The lever and blinker I can get BUT why? No peg no ride.

I knew going in that this was the story and can see why. The dealer only had so much cash for parts and sells what 1 Buell to 50 H-D? Don't really know but they can't even keep all the parts for H-Ds around here. AND how many fools drop their bike and BREAK a foot peg in the first place?


I am going to check at a place that sell Moto-cross stuff and see if he has a peg I can use.

So this dealership can't take a peg off a Buell they have on the floor?

I'm unimpressed and would use great caution with these guys.

When there is a disconnect in what a person says and does . . . I' tend to go with "does".

The dealer should be embarrased.
