I'm trying to find an airbox cover for my 05 xb9sx to try some paint on and all I see on buell's site is for the 06+

http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/Produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=3&CategoryID=5&Produ ctID=4123

Will that part fit an 05, or is there a different part#?

Last but not least who is the cheapest oem buell part hookup around?

thanks!

Only difference between the 05 and 06 is around the filler cap. The 06 came with a mesh screen because the intake air tube through the frame was eliminated. Other then they are Identical. I think an 06 would be better, you could eliminate the snorkel and carve up the inner airbox to allow more air to flow in. As for mounting purposes I think from 03-08 are all the same.

Regardless I am pretty sure someone is selling an 9SX air box cover in the classified section. Check it out

I replaced my 05 plastics with 06 plastics and Punkid is right. The 06 cover looks better with the mesh and fits fine but the mesh is blocked by the 05 inner airbox cover and basically blocks any volume of air from coming in through the mesh.

Thanks guys, now I just need to decide if I order new hero blue plastics to store and paint the old ones or get the new white plastics, paint those, and store my stock plastics. I don't ever see myself selling the thing, but would be nice to go back to stock look if I change my mind.

The mount points on my current tank do have a few cracks internal to the plastic...
