Jim - are you talking about the wire form that keeps your clutch cable from touching the header pipe? What direction are you heading today? I've got my cell phone on. |

Yes Kristi, mine broke in half. I think thats ok since it still has the top loop holding the cable away from the header. If I had gotten hold of you yesterday I was going to see if you could track one down for me, but I didn't want to leave a message as it isn't an emergency and I didn't want you not knowing that. Today I head up to Cheyenne. I'm going to stop up there and meet Motornoggin from ADV. Then I'm going over to Utah and spending the night with Dbird29. If you have time to look for that hanger, see if you can get it FedExed to RAM (in Seattle) or Ezblast. If you don't have time, I think I'm good with what I have. Thanks - Jim |

Can some one post the part number for the cable guide? Our Buell dealer in Salt Lake City might have one and I can put it on Jim's bike tonight. Or if it is the same as a XB9 I could just loan him mine. Please post so I can check/purchase today. |

Kristi: I'm at school today, have access to "some resources". If you get me the part number I can see where the part exists and we can have one waiting for him. Esta es no problemo. . . . What I can't fix is that face . . . man oh man!. . . . I'd forgotten what I looked like after an 800 mile day! Can you actually recall a face? . . . I suppose if it were s safety concern. . . wow! Ferris and I, both experienced in leaping about the USA on bike, were blessed with male model looks and it's easy to forget how lucky we are. Put the helmet back on and RIDE! Be safe and have fun! Dbird & Court - that part is not listed in the parts book. I plan to call South Valley and see if they have one and then I was going to ask Dbird29 to pick it up and have it ready for Jim. Stay tuned....I'm on it. If nothing else, I'll plead that they order one and let Jim have one off the floor! |

Ferris and I...were blessed with male model looks... that is an accurate statement. Jim, careful when you visit with the Birds, as they are known to FORCE beer upon visiting riders... |

I have found the part number (was on Engine Mounts page, thanks Jimmy at Liberty). I'm waiting for South Valley to open. If I can't locate a part out west, Liberty has one in stock and is holding it for me. I'll post again with a status report. |

OK - the part number is N0012.1AA - Wire Form. South Valley did not have the part and the parts guy wasn't knowledgeable enough about Buells to help. However, Mitch at Buell of Salt Lake took the time to see if the Uly wire form and Firebolt wire form are the same. They have the same part number, so David's wire form will work on Jim's Uly. David, drop me a PM with your shipping addy and I'll have Liberty ship you the one that they have in stock. (Message edited by Ulywife on October 17, 2007) |

Dbird - remembered I had your addy from the Matt Ware patches! Be on the lookout for a package from Liberty HD/Buell. Thanks for helping make sure Jim's trip is not interrupted for a burnt through clutch cable. The smallest $10 part can really make a difference sometimes. |

Why do I look more like a fat bastard than fat_bastard? that just doesn't seem right to me. Glad you're a little further down the road Jim, and that you're getting there safely! I worry about solo riders out there on the interstates. Too many brain dead drivers out there. IIRC there was a thread where it was suggested that the brake line holder from a H-D was a stronger part that works as a direct replacement for the clutch cable holder. It is a stamped steel part rather than a wire form. Just a thought. |

Diablo - I'll check into that. It is a weak part and one we need to have "just in case". |

Jim has called in after hitting a blizzard just outside Park City, UT. Almost had to roll the truck and trailer but he found some clear weather just 2 miles down the road. I have sent him around the storm to Provo, UT and he should be here within an hour. Unless he hits this rain/sleet band moving across the valley.

Jerry: When someone yelled "Fat Bastard" I just thought they were calling BOTH of us! Court, i'm confused: can we be male models AND fat bastards at the same time??? Jim, ya prolly shouldn't try this when you get there (i managed to get away with this without serious injury because i am a strained professional*), but i happen to know from experience that Lori has a weakness for men on Buells: *(mighta had something to do with my stunning male model looks...) |

Jim, your trip looks a bit scary AND fun. Love the pics and trip reports...keep 'em coming. And be safe. In your picture of Diablobrian, is he intentionally hiding his face, or is he just "shy"? |

Safe and sound
My clutch cable clip is the flat kind not the spring kind. This will have to work until it is replaced or fails.

Actually that was an accident, I was waving at the wrong moment. I should have been flashing the "shocker" for Jim, but it didn't occur to me in time... I'm anything but shy! Ask those that have met me, I HAVE opinions and I'm going to share them! In other words I'm the same guy in person that I am from behind a terminal. |
