Have been considering wave rotors for ages from Stealth but am still undecided on the wave pattern. I'm pretty unsure of using the 'rounded' wave profile on the front but I do like it on the rear like the one in the above pic. So can anyone identify the disc? I'm told it's of US manufacture. I'd like to see what the front looks like that it matches. Thanks Rocket |

Both BrakingUSA and Galfer have similar looking rear rotors. |

Actually from what I've seen the wave pattern on the one in the pic is pretty unusual and I like it a lot. Most waves are somewhat squared off and the inside line doesn't follow the outside line, like the one here which is parallel. I'd like to see what the matching front looks like. Please, someone name that disc. I can't find it in anything I've looked at. Rocket |

Yep Old. And Galfer, Braking, Stealth etc etc. The UK seller reckons he bought it from the States. Do we know of any US manufacturers I can trawl through myself? Rocket |

Rocket I think that I have seen that rotor style in a catalog, custom chrome or drag specialties. the reason I suggested checking with AL is that he may know where its available ( but you knew that.) I think that the profile would look great on your S1 |

Old, trawled those guys websites and others, still found no match. Auction closes tomoz and I've bid over £75 for this used rotor and not hit the reserve. As much as I like it I'm not wanting to gamble paying loads of money for this rotor if the risk of finding a matching front is slim. I can buy other makes new for the money I'm into now, and the sellers offering me squat. You'd think if someone bought this new from the US they'd remember who or where from. I'm doubting the seller actually bought it from new. Not that it matters, but you'd think they'd know more. After all, they seem to think it's worth a high price! I'll keep looking though, and I'll mail Al the pic. Thanks Rocket edit. Duc, nothing there either, ta. (Message edited by rocketman on October 07, 2007) |

Yeah, that's a Braking rotor. Those were only $100-$110 when new, so that auction sounds a bit nutty. Braking part number for the rear is: BL01RID Front: KBA.61094.D Nuts. I was going to post some pics but I can't shrink the images enough. |

You guys are the best. I couldn't for the life of me find a web site for Braking. Anyway, I got there with that link, but I can't see any images! Matty, I'd really appreciate those pic's to go with those part numbers. You could mail them direct to me seanpepper at gmail dot com or use http://www.xat.com image optimizer free download. Thanks again. Rocket |

Rocket, You've got mail. I'm on my Mac laptop these days, so I don't have my usual photoslop arsenal at my disposal. |

Banke Performance still has them listed at $319 for the front and $159 for the rear. |

Fighter, how do you rate the performance of the Braking front wave against that of the stock front rotor? Please consider I'm not one that use the rear often for stopping purposes, though I do blip down through the gears and use engine braking effectively all of the time. I have to say too, the wave does look good against the black wheel on your trick S1. Thanks again all. Rocket |

Rocket, the difference between the Braking rotor and the stock is bringing the bike to a stop with one fingertip compared to two fingertips...literally! I very very seldom use the rear brake at all. Yeah, one of the reasons I powdercoated the wheels black was to give contrast between the forks, caliper and rotor against the wheel. Same with the rear sprocket. Plus it just looks right. Thanks Rocket, Keith |

I think that is the old design front braking rotor. I've heard of some issues with cracking on that rotor, but I don't have any direct experience with it. The new one looks a bit different, see http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/6050.html Chris, the front number you posted for the front rotor looks funny to me. From memory, I think it is something like STX42D, not KBA.61094.D The original rear picture posted above looks like an older rear as well, see http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/6053.html |

You're all just spoiling me for choice, lol! My favourite rear has to be the early Braking, like the one in the first pic I put up. I'm still uncertain about the front. I like the old style Braking, like on Keith's Fighter, but the new style is nice too. I don't like the new rear though. It's similar to all other manufacturers in that they look like a circular saw blade. That's also the problem with most fronts where looks are concerned. Seems the latest styles are more about not having a rounded wave in favour of chopping out some V shapes from a circle. Makes me wonder if the early waves like the Braking version had long term problems. I dunno. Does anyone think that an early Braking rear and a later Braking front would look wrong? I reckon both could work given opposite ends and opposite sides of the bike. What do you all think? As for one finger or two Keith, (and we are talking motorcycles here {grin}) in 30 odd years of riding I still can't get out of the habit of using all four (still talking motorcycles, nod nod wink wink). I can however stop on a sixpence as I've always been a huge fan of Buells first S1front brake where you hardly needed to touch the lever to lock the brake. When I took the 910 and the 1098 out for a test ride the other month, the stark warning from the shop proprietor as I was about to set off on the brand new Duc, "watch the front brake, it will have you over the bars at 80 if you grab a handful". Clearly he'd never ridden a Buell! Thanks again all, and thanks too Al for chiming in. Rocket |

Al, I hear ya, but that's the number on the old box. Maybe an internal number or some other oddball thing? I Dunno. Too bad the style changed - I do prefer the round curves to the new pointy point style. I'm sold on EBC rotors anyhoo... (do they even make them still?) |
