Ben, sorry about your grandpa, but that's hardly justification for what the stupid Green People are doing to our ecnonomy. You want to shut off the oil, keep in mind I earn my living with heavy equipment and boats. Maximzing efficieny through rational regulations would go a lot further toward reducing the waste. Consider this. The final season opener was a 40 fish/day limit per boat. Deliveries had to be same day...and the market was 4 1/2 hour one way run. That was 9 hours run time to deliver fish caught in 4 hours troll time. Management by waste is the way the stupid Green People operate. Before you click your mouse to Paypal your contributions to the Green People please check where the money goes. Research your 'enviromental' contributions as carefully as you would your political contributions. |

Pro gun is not a contradiction to being pro life. The gun to protect your life, not just kill someone. You're showing your true colors with that one. |

We used frozen embryos for crab bait and I have a pic somewhere that proves it. It was after they had to close the cyrogentic embryo facility and we got a good deal on them. I could email the pic to Tom and he could post it if he's not too sensitive for that. Ill check and make sure I still have the pic. |

That's nauseating. Whose idea was that? Did somebody read in the paper that the cyrogentic embryo facility was closing and think to themselves "I bet that would make excellent crab bait"? Are the fish heads and guts normally used as crab bait so expensive that it is necessary to go out looking for chaeper bait? Just wondering... |

I got the pics! They're on some files taken from my old computer and I can't seem to forward them to email. Tried. My favorite is a shot of the crew chopping them up with a hatchet. I'll try exporting them to the new files tonight. We were just utilizing the embryos. It was right after the Bush admin. decided that cloning and keeping embryos was immoral. |

Well, if he thinks it's immoral it must be. He has a direct line to God and he is the decider after all. |

My perfect candidate: Pro gun Pro abortion Flat income tax - ENFORCED Unmarried having kids? NO WELFARE Cut off all aid to illegals. Change the "anchor baby" law. Heavy fines for employers hiring illegals. Round em up and ship em back. English as mandatory for legal citizenship. Drivers licensing tests giving in English only. (any test, really) blah, blah, blah... |

Snail, My father started off his current business (general heavy construction) with logging. I was taught to work a chainsaw when I was 12, and not one of those home depot branch cutters either. I've some familiarity there... Heavy equipment CAN run on biodiesel, there are a number of over-the-road truck stops that offer it. I beleive that if there were more demand for it the price would come down as the industry got more efficient. The road between now & then COULD be done smoothly, but its unlikely that it WOULD be. I don't contribute to environmental groups for exactly those reasons, It seems to me they're just another bandwagon for the "new rebels" to jump on. It does go both ways though: if I remember right the reason that diesel road regulations got tightened sooner was that the diesel manufacturers had figured out a way to have the engine ECU recognize when it was being tested & run a different map. Right now, the US automakers are protesting raising CAFE as they say its practically impossible, going so far as to make statements like "They (the public) want to rewrite the second law of thermodynamics. It just can't be done". Simply put, bulls**t. Lighter steels, aluminum chassis, BMW is using Magnesium engine blocks, low rolling resistance tires, improved diesel engines, undercar aerodynamics, general aerodynamics, etc. The same rules that you use to make Suzuki's go ridiculously fast could also lead to improved gas milege. Jon, I suppose I am "showing my true colors", as you interpret them. I'll tread no further into religon than this: Jesus forced NO ONE to follow him, it was voluntary. I believe the same. Ricky, mostly with you except for the flat tax. Realistically, a flat tax smacks of communism: from each according to his ability, to each according to his need. The rich would pay more money in taxes than anyone else, but would they receive more government benefits for having done so? Unless of course you meant the flat tax was a preset amount that EVERY american paid each year. |

BenM2, Religion has no connection with your comments or mine. Nor does faith in Christ, which is a prerequisite for following Him. But those are other matters entirely. We were discussing guns and abortion. |

"Pro-abortion?" I doubt that anyone really is FOR abortions. However, a great many of us are "pro choice," and "pro-concerned-about-the-quality-of-life," and "pro-keep-your-face-out-of-it." (Message edited by Regkittrelle on October 08, 2007) |

What, me sensitive? Here's Paul's somewhat disgusting picture:
Looks kinda rodent-y to me, but what do I know? Paul's fishing picture made me think of our old buddy Cap'n Pete, last heard from jerking fish from the sea around Guam, so I dropped him a note. I was pleased to hear back from him today--he's still fishing around Guam and--get this--the Rim Reaper is now running on bio-diesel! Quote: "Some old Navy guy I was sitting next to at the bar started talking about a guy on the island who was burning WVO (Waste Vegetable Oil – MacDonald’s) in his old raggedy Merc, and that piqued my interest. When I got home, I got on the Internet and started researching. To make a long story short, it wasn’t long before I drained all the fresh water ballast out of my pair of 250-gallon stern tanks, and pumped 500 gallons of WVO into her ass. I can buy it here from a collection company for $.50/gallon, settled for two weeks to get rid of the water, French fries, and chicken parts, and filtered to 2-microns. It was a pretty impulsive move. I didn’t have much data, but then I found an outfit in Colorado that was selling gensets with two-tank systems that were set up to burn WVO. They were using those old used Fruit Grower’s Express gensets, which are powered with GM 2-71’s. According to their literature, those old two-stroke GM’s are the one diesel engine that likes WVO just fine. (No injection pumps, and their injectors crack at pressures about 50% higher than injection pump driven injectors.) That was good enough for me… I have an old 2-valve 4-71 down in the engine room. So far, it’s been working great, and my fuel costs have gone from $3.50 a gallon down to 50 cents. My 3-day trip expenses have dropped from $550 to $200. What used to be a break-even trip now shows a profit of $300." Pete went on to apologize to me for taking money of my pocket (I'm in the oil exploration business) by running the "green" stuff, but I told him, "Never worry. You still need lube oil!" Just to complete the highjack, I'll share a couple of stunning photos that Pete sent:
There. My work here is done. rt ps: I like guns and own several. I dislike abortions and don't ever plan to have one. |

I didn't send you the disgusting pic. In one pic the sun has partially thawed the little embryos, and one is trying to crawl. I thought that pic might be offensive. |

Come on Snail, what is that thing? Way to big for an implantable embryo, and embryos would be medical waste that would need to be incinerated for disposal to prevent pathegen vectors. |

"prevent pathegen vectors" I got that from whatshisname, chibueller? You know, the guy in Chicago who would count the dead birds per block. You had me going there for a bit, Snail. Like a good panfish, I just mouthed the bait and spit it out, before you had a chance to sink the hook in. |

Would you believe around these parts we go into the hospital dumpster and get amputated legs and arms to use for snapping turtle fishing? I got pictures, I trimmed the Polaroid down to the size of a floppy disk but my computer won’t read it. |
