Good question. The only thing that concerns me are the vibration issues as everything else seems either minor and/or fixable. Engine vibes could be a different story entirely, I hope I am wrong. | ||

The problem I have with engine vibes is the fact that they occur at RPM's restricted by break-in procedure. So morally I should not be hitting these RPM's during the testride since I'm getting number 1 off the truck. I would like to know Buell's stance on the vibration, and what has been done to address this. (Message edited by coal400 on September 26, 2007) | ||

The vibration isn't any worse than any XB or tuber. I was shifting on sound more than anything today, and it took me all day to *finally* remember the rev limit was waaaay up there and I could keep revving it! One of the bikes I was on had the odo untaped, and it was showing 1996 miles (every mile was gentle, I'm sure, LOL). The same bike had mirrors, and although I didn't adjust them to be useful as far as where they were pointed, they were nice and clear most of the time when I glanced at them. Every bike today tore up the track and I heard very few comments about NVH, heat, or any of the stuff that's in the press. Mostly everyone was walking around shaking their heads, muttering under their breath and smiling. My only suggestion is to put brighter LEDs in the indicator lights; the Neutral light is nearly invisible in sunlight, and the engine / high beam lights weren't much better. ODIS was taped to avoid distractions, but the tach is awesome and about the size of a manhole cover. Can't miss it. And the new map? No hiccups all day long on any of my bikes (4 sessions), and I lugged to 2k in a couple spots on purpose; no issues noted by any of the folks I talked to either. Hmmm... Ok, Thanks Rat. I guess thats not too bad at all depending on the vibration you are talking about. The XB at idle, or > 3,000 Thanks again for sharing your experience. I still can't wait to ride it for my self. | ||

Let's just say the vibration wasn't anywhere near enough to distract me from the task at hand - not stuffing the bike into a wall or tossing it on the ground. All I had to do was drive it, and it did the rest. I never got above 4th, and that only at WFO, so I don't know anything about "cruising" revs...I almost wish there was a street session in addition to the track session, like the Cali journalist day. Just gonna have to snag one of the bikes we get for sale, for an afternoon ;) | ||

Keep in mind that there are a lot of customers out there (like me) that won't buy a bike with more than 2-4 miles on the odo... I will NOT buy a bike that's been hammered by a sales/service/ANY other person. If it has more than ten miles on it it's a demo bike and I won't pay any more than demo price for it. | ||

Back to what M1combat asked; I wonder if there is enough time for all the little matters, if any are real, to be corrected before shipments begin or are they already in production and will be correcting as production continues. Maybe I will not want one of the first produced. They should all be ready and the same before shipping even if production slows somewhat. I want the best Buell can produce and do not care to do recalls at the dealer. Anonymous. care to respond? My orders in already. | ||

I was originally told by my dealer that the bikes were gonna be at the dealership by October then called me a few weeks later and said there was a delay in production and wouldn't be in till November. So that might tell you something. | ||

Your dealership was crazy... Job one was always scheduled for 10-15. Your dealer just didn't know his *** from a hole in the ground. They "generally" don't. | ||

So, what is the "real" reason for the delay? I was told it's so Buell can debut the 1125 with 2-4 bikes per dealership on initial release instead of an anemic trickle as they are built. Just hope they arrive before Thanksgiving. We have this crap called snow out here from Nov to April. I hope to be assembling a crate 1125 that weekend. Z | ||

There were no delays - Job 1, the first production bike, has been scheduled for Oct. 15th since before the dealer show, press releases, and everything. They knew they were going to be demo'ing the bikes ad nauseum this summer, and that they were going to be finding things to tweak during that process. Not a delay...just good planning! And for the "more than 2-4 miles" bit - we do a 12 mile test loop on every single new bike we set up. It's part of our PDI routine, and it doesn't mean we "hammer" on the bike at all. We set it up, fill it up, warm it up, and take it on a specified loop to make sure everything stays tight on the bike like it should and nothing starts making noises. 1 mile isn't enough in our minds; if something is going to work loose, we'd rather it happen to our techs than to the customer. | ||

we do a 12 mile test loop on every single new bike we set up. Ours is 8 but everything you typed after that is exactly the same with us. But the bikes are definitely new, we don't even put a battery in until the prospective owner says "I'll take it." | ||

Ours is 7-9 depending on the route (weather will vary our route).... everything else is the same as well. | ||

I`m supposed to be getting the 1st 1125r that Mid America H D gets and I`m planing on letting Steve, Kevin, and the Main Buell mechanic (sorry I dont know your name yet) ride it before I take it home assuming that they want to ride it. I dont care if it has 10 miles or 50 miles on it as long as it is ready to go and not thrashed!! | ||

Frez! I'm with ya... Its kind of like having the priest do a little pre-marriage action on your "woman" before the wedding. I'd almost rather take my chances of having something come loose. This is where my bad rental car karma comes back to me...I just know it. I almost want to follow the tech on the test route | ||

As far as the delay I mentioned before, I have no idea if that was bull or not. The dealer I go to is Hal's and those guys seem to be "in the know". I was at the factory at the end of August and I was told they wanted the bikes in the dealerships by October and not later as first reported. Who knows what could of happened since then! | ||

I'm with Coal's analogy... I want to be the FIRST to sit on the seat and the FIRST to ride. Also plan to pay with a briefcase full of twenties, not a check. I haven't had the luxury of purchasing very many NEW vehicles. I want this one to be special. Been working on bikes, mostly Harleys for 30 years, and I'm looking forward to pulling this thing off the pallet and putting it together. Then, weather permitting, I'll ride. If not, I'll sit in the garage, with the bike on the race stand, and listen to it run... That's MY cherry to pop. <edit> This made me realize I forgot the most important accessory - factory shop manual. Just called Reed and added one to the order. Wow, you guys (Fresno, Coal,& Zac) are making me feel like some sort of a pimp or a slutty bike swinger. Ha Ha. I was the same as you years ago but now I dont care about being the "first" and the "only". For me its all about the fun. Part of the fun will be letting trusted friends and family take it out for a ride every once in a while plus I get to ride their stuff too. Even though the 1125r is going to be super cool and all, its just not that big of a deal. The truth is that in a couple of years I will probably give this one to my kid and I will get another one. | ||

It's passion. I've owned/ridden a lot of bikes over the years and the XB9R I had for three years was the best of the lot. When I saw the 1125, I knew it HAD to be better than the best. Anything else I say will be rambling. Z |
