I have the clear alternative one on badthumper. It works and looks great. The only problem I have had was that the heavy vibration caused a part to come loose on the board. I just put on more solder and it works great. | |||

I posted in the header section of this topic some universal pegs ran by several different bikes that we could use with only minor mods to the stock set up and none for usage with a set of rearsets like the Banke or homemade type - I've been running them for a while.  As you can see on the red bike - they are tight, no dragging so far and they look good while still in the regular Banke placement - not raised. EZ | |||

I believe I posted this in the wrong place before. Just a quick example of my blinker system. I'm working on version 2, which will have a connection to the horn so I can make all the lights blink when I honk.  Anybody know the legalities of excessive blinking and such? | |||

Dude - thats Brilliant!  They have to be seen clearly from 500 yards away, and cannot be red or blue - blinking rate is not discussed. Cool idea about the horn as well! Great job! I'm sure that puppy will sell and not just to Blast owners! EZ | |||

Mags rocks - a quick answer - Hi Ed - there was a very tiny leak at the gasket from top end. Although it was small, I am planning a summer journey to Texas and just wanted bike in top form. Inside looked very clean but there was just a little bit of wear around the edge of the piston, so we decided to replace it as well. HD sells the piston and jug as a kit, was only something like $230 and we were doing the rebuild in my garage, so no hourly sock-it-to-me mechanic fee. All in all, I feel it was the best decision, after 2,000 she is running great. Switched from 10-40 synthetic blend to full synthetic 20-50 this weekend, ran great, didn't burn through any oil. now thats cool! If your an always on the road type - that is good preventive maintenance. EZ | |||

Anybody have any advice on streamlining the Blast? After reading some articles, I'm convinced that streamlining motorcycles significantly reduces drag, boosting power, speed, and most importantly fuel mileage. The Buell team seems to have put something nice together that led to a new speed record for this class of motorcycle (see link). http://www.rubbermag.com/news/0709/070907_02.html Where could I get ahold of some streamlining panels like that? This would be a fun and interesting project despite incurring additional expenses. | |||

Headlight (and front turn signal) Mounting Bracket(s): '00 parts book lists M0671.T as right and M0672.T as left. Chi-HD parts database has those same numbers with left & right reversed, each with a note saying incorrectly listed as opposite side - so the parts book got the sides mixed up, no big deal. BUT... for both part numbers, there's also an "A" version (M0671.TA, M0672.TA). Both types (all 4, actually) seem to be available. Does anyone know what the "A" version is? | |||

Earlier versions had the nuts welded to the brackets, later versions used 'loose' nuts. Both styles use the same threads. I dont know which version the 'A' is, but they're all otherwise the same. | |||

weird - my '00 has loose nuts [/mcmahon] HEY-O! [/mchahon-off], but I've thought it would sure be nice if they were attached. I drilled extra holes in my brackets to move the headlight forward about 5/8" when I re-shaped the flyscreen. Got a raptor fairing now, and want to get a new set of brackets to hack up instead of hacking up the modified ones, in case I want to go back to the current setup... | |||

Left hand air intake shroud.I have a stock 2004 Blast. How does the intake shroud on the left side attach to the bike? I see it has a bracket and it screws into the bottom at the coil,but is the shroud also secured to the outer frame under the seat?Any help will be appreciated. Charlie | |||

Welcome to Badweb Charlie! At the very back end of the tank cover where it meets the frame (and seat), just in front of the cover at the end of the frame, should be a well nut (a threaded sleeve held in place by rubber).Yours may be missing. Its the same size well nut that holds the rear hugger fender on. | |||

I just bought a low mileage (293 miles) '03 Blast for my wife so she can learn to ride. I'm on the moto crew for the Atlanta 2 Day Breast Cancer Walk. I'm looking for a set of plastics that I can have painted pink and use the bike to do the moto work. The girls will love it and it will be a big hit. Does anyone make aftermarket plastic pieces for the Blast? I called the dealer and they want $410 for the set. I've been keeping an on eBay but haven't found anything yet. Gearheaderiko. Thanks for the info. I found the well nut hiding in the frame under the hole it belongs in(that was luck).Can I assume the screw needed is a torx head (as the fender screw is) or would it be a hex head? I see it is a 1/4-20 thread.Thanks again. Charlie S | |||

Same as all the other Torx heads, but you can, of course, substitute whatever works. | |||

Welcome Mike! There are no aftermarket body pieces for the Blast to speak off. There is a carbon fiber flyscreen or a (Buell) race S1 fairing that will work (you'll have to cut out the light hole). Both are still $60+. I only have a spare 'battle blue' tank cover. You can have it for $50 shipped (it unfortunately needs a large box to ship). White bodywork is your best choice for pink, but any white is rare on ebay. I see body parts as well as full sets of other colours on ebay all the time. | |||
