If I sell the RT, I'd buy a new 2008 Uly. My question is this: What Mods are necessary or usually done to make the bike better/ more useful? |

Well, it all depends on your riding style. Most people find the stock lighting inadequate, so they put on extra lights, or change to real HID. If you want a bit more performance, an exhaust, K&N filter, remapped ECM, open airbox conversion. If you are going to be riding in colder weather you might want to consider an aftermarket windscreen. But mostly, it just depends on what you are looking to get out of the bike. Good luck with your decision! Phil |

I ride when the world lets me - after the kids are asleep, at 4 am on the weekends (because thats the time I normally get up anyway), and a ton of highway miles. I already know I will need a new screen, lights, and some hard luggage. Any suggestions for the luggage, or light bars? |

Lots of options for the luggage. Personally, I think the Touratech or the Buell offerings look the best, but they are pretty expensive. I've got a set of yellow storm cases on mine for about half the price (courtesy of a Fehlings rack). |

Any suggestions for the luggage, I've got nearly 30 K on the factory H&B luggage, and I'm pretty happy with it. |

IMHO Luggage would be Happy Trails or Tourtech.... Top-loading, solid metal are much tougher and easier than givi or HB clam shells. I had tourtech's for 8 years and they can save your leg if in a crash. Windscreens ... seems to have turbulence with tall models, to wait and see. Chas |

Ft_bstrd put an HID conversion kit on the low beam of his Uly. I personally don't like having a bunch of excess stuff that doesn't look like it belongs. And, the conversion uses less wattage than the stock bulbs but provides much more light. Here is the link to the kit Ft_bstrd used, he also has a walkthrough of the install on badweb somewhere. http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/HID-Headlight- Conversion-Kit-p-18322.html |

I like HID lights, and have them on my car...however, it's my impression that the white HID lights are far less visible during the day than traditional "yellow" high beams, possibly compromising the "can you see me now" factor that running headlights on provides on a motorcycle. Just a thought. |
