who know the squish band correct size for a race engine and for a street engine. xb 88'' 10.5 c.r. cp pistons , 15° degrees comb. chambers ??? any help welcome bye Alessio

Not sure there is a "correct" size. The heads need to match the pistons is the main thing. |

"correct size" i mean ...values you must stay between for no knocking symptoms. i think , but i'm not sure , with this kind of heads/pistons combination 0.035 ( around 0.8/0.9 mm)is the correct size. i said ....i'm not sure. any input will be appreciated thank you all Alessio |

.030 is optimum. .035 is fine. |

The proper way to measure is to put clay on the dome of the piston and turn the motor over(with the motor bolted)...then measure the clay. Then you are not guessing. You will know exactly the clearance you have. (Message edited by pammy on September 28, 2007) |

Solder is fine. We prefer clay, but a lot of folks use solder or plastiguage. |

thank's again i did'nt " closed" the engine yet because i did a wrong gap on one ring . i waited until yesterday for a new one. today i'm going to finish it ....i'm new on this practice but i love to do myself and learning on. pics will follow... bye Alessio |
