It is from the Buell family crest. If you do a search there is a complete discussion. I also posted all the various iterations of it as well as some of the "problems" with Mobil Oil over the year. Mobil prevailed but I liked Erik's comments to them. Glitch, if you read this PM me with a number I can reach you at. Court |

The winged horse as a metaphor for a motorycle seems pretty obvious to me. I really like this design, I had a Fiero before for about 7 years and the logo for a Fiero is a Pegasus too. When I was preparing to get married my wife made me buy some real gold coins for use in the ceremony, and while I was at the coin shop, I bought a Greek Corinth stater coin too, just because there is a Pegasus on the back. I thought I would somehow affix to a Buell when I eventually bought one, but I didn't know then how much they vibrate. That ebay auction looks a bit like just stainless plugs with a sticker stuck on them. If you notice his other auctions he has up a pair of stickers. There were some actual Buell parts made, I found a pair of those on eBay while back. I will look for the part number, I still have the package. You could make your own, similar to that auction. For example, I have some plain black plugs from eBay before I found the Buell ones, and also a pair of those stickers too. (I seem to be a sucker for Buell bits...) If you're interested I will dig them out and confirm the stickers fit on the plugs? I think I paid about $15 total for the pieces, but about 3 times that for the Buell ones. Yes, remember I said sucker... I have 4 Pegasi per side showing, plus one on the dash, total of 9. I think they should put it big on the tank, like the Honda "wing". OK, the Buell frame plugs are actually called the Pegasus Pivot Bolt Plug Kit and the part number is 43839-01Y, my package is dated 01-05-01. I did a google search for these, nothing but some old discussions on this board. The little stickers I have are 2.25" long, too big to fit my old frame plugs. The Buell plugs' Pegasus is only 1.25". I could swear I saw some smaller ones for sale before, but the ones being sold on ebay now are the same 2.25" |
