Bluzm2: For the unsuccessful attempts you are talking about (since deleted) you would have had to press your lips against the screen and blow while making a cool VROOOOM noise.

The above mpeg file should pull up whatever app your computer is set to use to play it. Mine uses the Windows Media Player.

Does Nallins have a website and if so what is it and has anyone heard of a kit for the XB9R in the works? Or any mods for that matter.

http://www.nallinracing.com

Yes, Nallin Racing has kits lined up for the XB9R. I'm not sure if they have any heads prepared yet.

Please don't bother them for the next few days. They are busy Nallinizing my Cyclone.

Blake,

What Nallin mods in the works?

Rempss: Thanks for asking. Nallin Racing is installing a 1250 kit with stage two T-Storm heads, CM580 cams, and a Dyna 2000 ignition module. I'm keeping the stock carb.

I'll have a report posted on the whole deal once I get it broken in and dynoed. Am looking forward to big torque down low and in midrange. I don't expect peak HP over 95RWHP; peak torque should come in around 90 FT-LB though.

"I don't expect peak HP over 95RWHP"

I do. In fact, I think you'll break 100.

BTW, glad to see you're going to t-storms! It makes sense.

Should scream when it's done, I'd bet over 100hp also. I assume Brian is doing the install, what a great guy.

I have just about finished my break in on my "Nallinized" (Brian should coin that phrase)motor. I will post what a FI bike does with stock cams as soon as my dealer can see me, too busy doing general maintenance on HD's right now! Dyno is a 2 week wait!!!

So that I might, for once, win a discussion point with Aaron, I'm going to set the rev limit at 5500.

NOT!!

I hope y'all are right. He said the heads flowed something like 165 CFM. Said he was real proud of them. Apparently the blanks were some of the better specimens he's seen.

What's the bench mark for standard TS heads then Blake? Are talking 10, 15 or 20% more flow at stage two tune?

Steve: From what I understand stock TS heads flow around 130-135 CFM. I'm not sure if that is for stock lift or at the 0.580" I'll have with the new cams or what. Someone familiar with head porting might know. 165/135=22%

BLAKE:Not sure how to put video clips here, but I have 2 dyno's I would like to show. I have an X1 my bud has an M2. We went to "thunder in hill country" this weekend and had em done on the same day. Help me out here, and I will give you all the mod's and scan the print out of both bikes. very interesting how we are both pulling the same HP and the curve difference between a carbed bike and a FI bike. also have some on the road video with the same 2 bikes. RRunner: Vid clips are probably too large for posting as an attachment (using the "\attach{}" formatting tag), since they need to be below 50KB. If they are really cool though, send them to me and I'll see if it might make sense to post them as downloadable attachments for you. :)

Sporty Vs Buell
My toys.
That Sporty does pretty good for stock 883 heads.

Here are some of the more interesting results from today's dyno shootout at High Country HD/Buell in Frederick, CO ...

KM's 2000 X1

Your basic race kitted X1

JD's 2000 X1

A Nallin 1250 Kit/Stage 2 2000 X1

CH's 2000 M2

A 2000 M2 ... the blue is a pull we did back in December. The red is now. The only change to the bike is it had a V&H can in December, now it has a Force exhaust system. The bike is otherwise stock, oh, except it had a Forcewinder. This bike is actually the first one on which I saw the Force/CV issue.

CB's 1997 S3

Your basic race kitted '97 S3

AH's Blast

This is a 2001 Blast with a V&H exhaust. The only difference in the 2 pulls is that the air box was open for the red pull.

883-1200 t-storm

This is an 883-1200 conversion with thunderstorm heads and pistons. It has an unknown Andrews grind in it for bumpsticks. Thunderheader exhaust.

Ducati S4

This is an S4 Ducati. Only mod was a set of Remus CF mufflers.

V-Rod

Here's a V-rod, all stock.

V-Max

Here's a Yamaha V-max. It's a '93 with 30K miles. Only mod is the pipes.

SM's 103" TC88

This is a 103" FLTR. The Forcewinder saga continues. We did two bikes today that had unmodified Forcewinders hanging off a CV. Both had this problem.

BF's '96 S2T

This is a '96 S2T with an 88" motor. Forcewinder issues again.

JS 99 M2

Forgot one ...

This is a '99 M2 with a Daytona Boss exhaust and modified Forcewinder. In blue is a pull he did about 4 weeks ago with the stock cams. The only thing he's changed since then is to switch to the Lightning cams.

Aaron, never mind. I found the details that you posted previously. Good work. Can you tell what style of Forcewinder you have from the outside; or do you have to remove the "snorkel"? Mine looks like it might be the old style . . .

Add me to the list of thankfulls.

Pulled of my forcewinder today, sure enough, just this little channel.

10 minutes with the dremel tool, and I return from the basement all aglimmer with aluminum dust in my hair and a big grin.

My M2 ran noticably better through the midrange, and will lift the front wheel a little just on hard throttle in first gear now...

THANKS!

How'd the ECM handle the Nallin kit on the X1?

Y'all are welcome, no problem.

Chuck: no, no external visual clues. It's only 3 screws though, takes 60 seconds tops.

Vik: Pretty good I'd say. That's why I put the a/f on there, these race ECM's really give a nice flat a/f curve, even at that level of mods. I gotta wonder, though, comparing Kevin Hern's bike to this one, if the FI doesn't start constraining the motor at power levels above 100, just from a total flow point of view. I don't really know, I just suspect it. The other thing, too, is since the FI controls the ignition as well, you're locked in to that rev limit and curve, both of which are fine at 100hp levels but maybe not at 110. The FI has advantages, but I suspect a carb'ed motor has more potential, at least with the current FI offerings.

Hey Aaron, I believe you posted at one time about the optimum A/F ratio for power & for economy? What were those ratios? Thanks.

Max power tends to be around 13:1. It can vary from one motor to the next but that's a pretty good rule of thumb. 12.5:1 to 13.5:1 you generally won't see a big change in power.

Stoichiometric is 14.7:1, i.e. somewhat leaner. Someone else here can probably give a better explanation of what the term means, but as I understand it, it essentially means a chemically complete burn.

Max economy? I don't know.

Aaron:

I know this is soooo very hippocritical of me as I spend half the day bitching that you can just spend less money and get more power out of a Jpa bike; however, I'm really interested in breathing some new life into my X1.

What's the word on 100+ and the Race ECM? Is this a place where the PCIII could shine?
