Rob, That's why I'm looking for better seats for the X1. Regardless of power output, it just felt better. My biggest problem now is the Cyclone's lack of ground clearance. Now that I've got good tires and I'm comfortable with the bike I'm constantly dragging the shifter/brake lever. I'd love to own the X1, but I just can't own a bike that I can't tour on. Performance is a "want" Comfort is a "need" Mike L. '99 Cyclone |

Mike, As for touring on the X1, it has been done, on the stock seat no less. I have found the biggest problem with the stock seat is its narrowness and the way it slopes downward towards the tank, the angle and the narrowness at that point contribute to create a real ball crusher, add to that the heat eminating from the oil tank and engine and you have the makes for a real unpleasant experiance. I stuck a peice of insulating foam under the seat. I have heard the Buell custom seat illeviates this somewhat, although I have not tried it. What I have tried is 300 mile days on the Lightning, and even though to some this is not really touring, I never enjoyed much more than that on more comfortable machines. The key is to stick to the backroads. So go ahead and throw a tent and a sleeping bag on the back of an X1, others have done it, at the end of a 300 mile day expect your butt to be sore yes, but also expect to feel exilerated! Rob |

oooh rah Blake. besides, a lot of good that special X1 frame does for the twisties if you dont have the torque to power through them. and oh yeah, im no hardened vet, being 19 and all, but i just got back from FL (too cold in WI to ride, i heard its hard on the bike) where i put in three 500 mile days, no problems. Blake, Let's go for it when your back in the New York area. Maybe a freindly battletrax? In all seriousness, perhaps you could outhandle me on your M2, but I bet you could outhandle yourself over the same road on the same day with a back to back ride on an X1. Rob |

19 and three 500 mile days? I guess that beats 21 and NC to FL and back, even though I did have one 600 mile day. I was beginning to think I was the only young Bueller here. Mike L. '99 Cyclone (bought it when I was 20 ) |

RobR: I'm up for it. You will have to ride my M2 yourself to understand what I mean though. It's not quite stock and I've dropped the front just enough to give me the most perfectly neutral turn-in and cornering I've ever had the pleasure to experience on a motorcycle. |

both bikes are perfect yet flawed, the X1 needs to come carberated as an option, carberation is the sole reason i bought my M2 in 2000 ( when i was 20, for the guys up top^^^^) little mods and i was blowing the doors off and X1 and if i do need to up grade Boom 10 min later i have the carb off, on and tuned. Instead of scaning at the dealer or pulling off the power comander and remapping in on my computer although Fuel injection Technology is to the point where you can interface it with the dyno and tune it that way. But for thoes of us who dont work at the dealer that gets a little more pricy than a .99 cent jet. |

I think a 99 and newer M2 with 98 and earlier tank and tail would be perfect. |
