I am considering converting my 1203 Thunderstorm motor into a chopper frame and retaining the fuel injection. I have a Buell Race Kit. The question is can the Race ECM be remapped for straight pipes or do I need to get a different type of electronic control?

I think that the race ecm should be fine with straight pipes, just make sure that the pipes are the right length...

There's a Tech at Suburban Harley Davidson/Buell in Thiensville, Wi that did exactly what you want to do. Give them a call and ask for John "Johnny Buell" Burnett. His bike is called the B-rod.

Toll Free Number: (800)241-1340

Only problem...you'll lose a crapload of power! I read an article about someone who put straight pipes on a XB12R and the power dropped to 74 hp...

I'm convinced people who use straight pipes don't give a damn about power. All they want to do is make noise.

Drag pipes are not the problem. Drag pipes with any kind of baffle, or the wrong length, most off the shelf pipes are too long, or not changing the tune up are the problem.
