First Demo Run of the 2007 Open House Extravaganza!
And the Thunder Mountain Customs tent is also up. Those are some purty motorcycles.
So, SO very psyched. |

Cool!!! Just be sure to keep Anthony and his spray paint can away from the Thunder Mountain bikes! I'm sure that in his mind he can do better!

Erik's already there? I thought he wasn't showing up until tomorrow. Cool! That means he'll be well rested and ready to play his ass off. I hope you took him to the Dinosaur for Dinner to put him in an inspired frame of mind. I can feel it already; this is going to be a Good One! |

He surprised us too! Seemed a bit groggy, but none the worse for wear. That man's schedule is insane! Almost ready to go! T-minus-like 5 minutes! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! |

Actually . . . he's never been more excited and after feeding him last night I let him sleep until he woke up today. . . he was TOTALLY shot after a long week of international flights, driving all night and sleeping in a van for 2 hours. We've had, I am sorry to report, a bit of a development in that we got an e-mail at 3:48am that Erik Anderson (Thunderbolts Bass player who had stayed behind to play in Milwaukee last night and was flying in this morning) was on stage last night when his wife's cellphone rang. There house was engulfed in flames and was a 100% loss including their beloved collection of pet birds. The FD guys, struggling with the fire ended up bulldozing the house to control the flames. It's looking like the day may turn into, and it could be really cool, more hanging out swapping stories and visiting with friends than a concert. We'll be outta here in about 20 minutes and Erik's already asking who all is going to be there. . . this has turned into one of the neatest annual reunion of FRIENDS. There is even a rumor, as I type this, that the Great Dane in on the way, via New Jersey Transit Train . . . Party on Wayne!

It must be Tuesday. The forecast said there was no rain in sight till Tuesday, so that's the only explanation, right? Court, it was great seeing you again! And despite the rain we had a great time. I came down with Techmikeny and his parents; we all rode through the liquid sunshine to be there. And I even got my Lightning Long signed!

we all rode through the liquid sunshine to be there Yeah, that was some of the moistest, heaviest sunshine I've seen in a while too. Thanks everyone for coming out anyway - we just closed down the demo truck officially (what a beast to pack up!) and I hope some of you got some pics to post! I'll be posting mine a little later, when I can see straight again. I'm beat. ->chellem |

Well, it sure was wet, to pretty much everyone's surprise. Seemed like as long as we stayed away from the dealership the rain held off... Oh well, still a great time. I got to put some faces to a lot of names, though I recognized the bikes first, no surprise. I got to meet the man himself as well as Court briefly. I look forward to it again next year. To give an idea of the wetness... The "field", with my firebolt soaking in the foreground:
The Uly gathering:
And "him", with my signed bike:

We had a great time and Carlee was all smiles after meeting Erik. She was totally stoked about having her picture taken with him. Later I bought her a red Buell hat with sparkles and we had Erik sign it. I think it has replaced the pink hat as her new favorite! |

Erik and I saw this on the way . . I suggested we pull along side and start bombarding them with Buell shirts!
Turns out it was Carlos, Kristi and Carlee!
How cool was this cake?
But I'm not sure some folks should have knifes!
This is Owen the little guy who almost sidetracked last years party but Michelle went into labor the following day!
This was modeled after a cake in New Jersey!
Cool eh?!
One of these guys put down a deposit . . the other one will
Very tricked out Firebolt - Left
Very tricked out Firebolt)
This gal, whose name I missed, had a REALLY NEAT story about her Racing Stripe X-1
Bikes were signed
The WAY COOL Thunderbolts t-shirts were signed)
And more bikes were signed . . .
This you don;t see every day. . . the interesting thing is this may have been the happiest group of motorcyclists I've ever met. . . the Uly is creating a subset of riders who REALLY have fun
And spend time swapping ideas, stories and suggestions with the guy who conceived and built the bike. . .
Totally cool . . .
But I can resists . .
But . . .my resistance is growing weak
Steve Haynes ran away with the prize at the Dyno Shoot-Out
There were Cycle Chicks hanging out
In the day of XB's, fuel in frame and perimeter brakes. . . this bike still stirs the soul
Erik and Moose . . while we partied this guy sweated in a dyno room ALL day! - By the way . . Moose is emerging as one of the premier technical guys in the world of Buell. . . very cool to see a dealer going light years beyond required training!
Now those speed limits in Jersey . . . are the mandatory or SUGGESTED? (Message edited by court on September 23, 2007) |

Erik and I saw this on the way . . I suggested we pull along side and start bombarding them with Buell shirts! So what stopped ya? I can't believe you guys spotted us on the highway, what are the chances of that happening again? I see you found the pictures I took of you on Crusty's Uly. I couldn't resist. You looked like a kid with his first new car!

>>>So what stopped ya? Hold that question . . . because it's important. We were unable to "communicate" as there was a digital 4-track recorder running and we were in the midst of a 27 minute debriefing. There is a chapter that may or may not be in the book but that HAD to be accurately captured before memories got any further clouded. We're trying to determine the statute of limitations. It really made the entire scene kinda funny. . . I was doing the navigation by pointing and sign language. . . when I saw the Suburban with the Buell sticker . . . Erik was in the middle of a thought and i was leaping and springing (as best an old man can) all over the place. It was a genuine fun time. Some of these deals you have to do and you have a good time. It speak volumes that all the guys are not only willing to take 4 days to invest in making a 3 hour appearance but drove 28 hours to and fro. Something just ocurred to me . . . we should have had an award for the person who traveled the furthest to attend. . . Erik would have won!

Thanks - it was nice to meet you finally too! And thanks for your help distributing cake - I would have been slicing cake for, well, I'd probably STILL be slicing cake the way I do it. As you can tell from the picture. Clearly I should NOT be given a knife. I'm so glad everyone had fun despite the rain! The best-laid plans, etc etc. Now, what to do NEXT year? |

Hey all, Chellem thank you for a wonderful event! Guys I had the Millenium in 2000 #289, still have the gas cap. I was rear ended by a F250 pick up guy was drinking in the cab, driving. It was my first Buell, needless to say I was blessed I didn't get too hurt, very banged up, the bike took most of the impact, 30 days later I was back in the shop with the Millenium's jet coated headers and put them up to the Racing stripe #274 bought that bike, I now have 30,000 miles on it, and have an XB9SX, A member of the Rider's Edge team in HD headquarters sent me the poster as a gift last year! I've done so much on the Buells K |

Well, this is the second year in a row this event was held on the Jewish Holy Day of Atonement. Maybe that's where the rain came from? |
