The previous owner of my Cyclone routed the oil breather so that the puke lands perfectly on the back tire and caliper. I looked through the archives and found a system that looks decent. The lister got his puke tank from e-bay. There were quite a few choices in the $30.00 range shipped. They are sold mostly by import car tuner shops. I don't think I can replicate a decent system for less than what they are asking. Have any of you ordered one of those? I was just looking for the better vendor. |

Here's a link the last catch-can thread. I think the tank you mentioned is what Mike used... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/291947.html?1185236184 |

Thanks, I know this is a common thread. I just wanted to find a puke tank that I knew would show up when I ordered it. The link on ebay is still good, and I am ordering as we speak. Bill |

My bike came with a polished billet puke tank. "catch-can" sounds so much less odiferous than "puke tank"... |

Probably better than calling it a spooge tank though. |

One thing to keep in mind, the Tranny overflow came from the factory back above the rear wheel. It follows the right frame rail up and ends in front of the license late. The oil breather is routed into the back of the air intake. You very well could be looking at the tranny overflow. In which case, if there is spooge coming out, you could have a leaking crank seal. A catch can is not a good fix for a leaking crank seal! Its a few hours worth of work, and as with most projects on this bike, with the right tools, it's not difficult. |

Here's the aluminum one I got off ebay for $30. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/291947.html It works great and looks great. |

Looks nice. Who was the e bay seller? I did not see a similar one listed. Thanks, Dave |

I saw one on ebay that looked really cool. It has what looks like a clear tube on the side which I assume is to show you how full the tank is. I like the idea a lot, but nothing complex survives the vibration of the HD engine for long. $30.00 is a lot of money to spend to do an experiment when there is already a solution that works. I have been thinking a lot about what to call the thing. I am thinking of taking it to Things Remembered in the mall to have the name engraved on the side. I am partial to the term Puke Tank. It sounds manly like something you might want to have around in a frat house. If you had an actual puke tank at your place, women would think it was gross, but not creepy. Catch Can sounds kind of vague and too politically correct. It's like the thing doesn't want to be honest and say what it does for a living. Have some pride CATCH CAN and just stand up for what you are! Spooge tank? Have you seen the stuff that comes out of the breather? Spooge? See a doctor if yours resembles that stuff at all! That, and if you had an actual spooge tank at your place? Man.... I don't even want to think about it! I keep mine in latex bags and toss it as soon as socially acceptable! I am thinking I got way off track here. I should have my new "puke tank" in about a week. |

This thread is fun. I'll reiterate my point though... make sure the tube you're speaking of is venting from the tops of the heads, and not from the back of the tranny. |

If the puke goes in front of the tire in front of the contact patch, it won't be enough to ruin your traction. It's mostly water and there really isn't enough volume to make any difference. When I first routed my hose down there, I placed the end o the hose in front of the exhaust. My thinking was that the dribbles would be blasted clear of the bike. It works mint when standing still. When you go on the highway for a few hours, I found that it misted up the inside of my rear wheel. I then placed the end of the tube behind the exhaust in front of the tire. It's been like that now for 40,000 miles. |

See! I did get way off track. Mike, As soon as I got home from work I rechecked the routing like you said and all the lines come directly from the breather bolts. One of the breather bolts is turned too far forward and it is slightly kinking the breather line. I want to fix that too. After a 4 hour ride after work yesterday I ended up with what looked like less than a tsp of oil spray and one or two drips out of the breather filter. The whole system the guy made runs uphill so my guess is that it is loaded up with oil As a temporary fix, I am going to put a T fitting at the low point with a vacuum cap on it so I can drain the system after I get home. After the puke tank gets here, I will put that at the low point and move the filter away from the brakes and tire. If it isn't going to wreck traction at all, I will probably just put it down center and low like Nate suggested. Bill |

You might want to consider XB rocker covers in the future. It makes routing the breather lines a lot easier. Here is the way I routed the breather lines with the stock covers. Not pretty, but functional.
I got some XB covers and was able to shorten the lines and have them running down all the way to my ho'made catch... er, puke tank.
I turned down some SS button heads to clean up the carb mounting.
There are hundreds of different ways to do this archived in the Breather section in the Knowledge vault. I love looking at everyone's solution to the same problem. You could just get the PCV valves (cheeep) and drill the the stock rocker covers if you wanted to (in the archives too). |

Wow, that is spiffy on the carb mounting bolts. 'Turned down' implies a lathe right? A shorter cap would make that inside one easier to get the allen wrench on. Why don't you make a few sets of 3 and put them on ebay or in the Classified? I would buy a set, I'm sure there's others as foolish as me. The thing about the rubber hoses running uphill or downhill, if you notice those XB heads, the vent goes straight up ! As I recall, the factory piping inside the big black airbox had a bend up to vertical as well. I suspect up or down routing matters less that it looks like it 'should'. How about calling this tank the "vomitorium" for a classical (ancient Rome) connotation (Message edited by jayvee on September 20, 2007) |

I had the lines going up on the first iteration of my Spooge Collection and Redistribution system and I really didn't have a problem with it. It just made more sense to for the lines to be pointed down on further iterations (it took me 3 1/2 tries to get the SCRS container right) after they exited the heads because gravity is free. The company I turned those button heads down at (on their lathe) started farming out machine work when their machinist retired. They sold the lathe too! The next time I'm around another lathe, I'll try and machine a few down for you. I could only charge you good karma or a beer, though... payable in full if we ever meet. |

The ebay puke tank came in the mail yesterday. It's a nice quality piece. It went on easily and I don't think it looks bad at all. I rerouted the vent filter all the way to the back of the bike and mounted it under the license bracket. I will see if there is any puke back there after the modificaton. If so, I will route it out under the engine. I tried to do that right away, but I wasn't finding a clear path. If you are looking for a similar tank, you couldn't go wrong with this one. The link is somewhere on this thread. Bill |

I bought one from the same e bay vendor, allianceautosports@comcast.net for my S3T. It arrived Monday and it is exactly like the one pictured at the top of this thread on Djkaplan's post that links to MikeF5000's July 12, 2007 post. It looks great and I like it so much that I bought another one for my M2! Thanks for the good advice. |
