I have read that the stock clamps from Buell are rather pricey (as far as clamps go). So people go out and buy clamps from other sources but my question is why has no one "upgraded" to a spring loaded T-bolt clamp? It appears to me that spring loaded clamps will allow for a small amount of expansion with the same amount of tension exerted due to the spring. It should also allow for the clamps to be reused since the spring would be storing the "clamped" energy. Thoughts? |

Here is a link to a few companies that produce them: http://www.breezeclamps.com/tbolt.htm http://www.clampco.com/ http://www.murraycorp.com/index.pl/tbls_spring_loa ded_t-bolt.htm Still looking for someone that sells the larger versions (like the ones we need). |

I have done it. Got mine at Mcmaster-carr. I warmed up the motor, then tightened the clamp till the spring was fully compressed. That way, when the muffler cools down and shrinks, the spring will force the band to contract and take up the slack. 2000 miles and no problems. Be aware: the clamp is not as thick as the stocker, I do a visual on mine before every ride. |

check with Al at American Sport Bike. A few years ago before he bought American Sport Bike he was a REAL engineer! He even designed some goodies for the tubers. Part of that design was this type of clamp. I'll just bet he has a source for just the size we need. Neil S. |
