Well, I took the bike out today after it has sat for about a month and it ran all well and good until the ride home. I took off from a stop sign really getting on it, running it up close to red line in about every gear. When I got to fourth (almost to redline)I heard a pop and it felt like it shut down, engine light came on and tach went dead and as soon as it did it came right back. I wrote it off and hit fifth and cranked it WOT. Speedo was showing between 105 and 110, it popped again and did the same thing. Pulled over and my idle was around 2K (don't know how or why that happened) turned it down to around 1100, checked for leaks or anything out of the ordinary and nothing. Rode it the three miles home but I couldn't duplicate the problems again even at WOT. Has anyone else had this happen? It puckered me up at over 100 mph. Could it possibly be the battery? I've been having some problems with it lately but it's only two years old, I got five out of the original. If anyone has any thoughts please pipe in. Thanks guys. How 'bout them CATS? |

Oh yeah, by the way. I checked the KV but I'm not really even sure what to check for to what to look for in the search. Thanks |

My X1 did the same awhile back. Found nothing at all except I did fill it up with gas after and it seemed to clear up. Like a hiccup. I ran injector cleaner through it also and havent had a problem yet. I think the gas either absorbed water or it was just crummy after sitting. Looked at me connections at ECM and cleaned them as I thought maybe with my washing habits they had got wet or corroded. I did clean the side stand switch and connector too as I thought maybe it got wet and stopped working. Weird isnt it? Cranking along then nothing, then pow on again. Had my arms jerked out of sockets twice. |

A hiccup, exactly. That's exactly what it felt like. I did wash it earlier but I'm very careful not to get water around the electrical stuff and I blow the whole bike down with my air compressor after every wash. It should have been dry after the ride and the time it sat afterwards. I also ran half a bottle of Gumout through it last month. Oh well, hopefully it got it out of it's system. Thanks for the input. |
