I went riding with a friend that had a 2007 XB12R and he pointed out that my header was smaller in diameter than his stock header. NO WISE CRACKS ON THIS NOW GUYS! Anyways My point being do i have a stock header or is this aftermarket ? I bought the bike used so i don't know if it is stock. Thanks for any info on this, Torque. |

Someone has to know the answer to this. |

They should be the same as far as I know. If yours is smaller it is likely from an XB9 or an aftermarket pipe. One thing to note is that the finish of the headers changed from a brushed to more of a blasted look which may be enough to fool the eye into perceiving a difference in diameter. |

Blake, I measured my header with a dial caliper and it measured 1.5" in diameter. Is this the correct diameter? John. |

The stock XB12 header is 1-3/4" diameter. |

Blake, would there be a reason that a smaller header would have been put on this bike? John. |

So I'm looking to replace the headers on my bike are all XB headers the same? Will they all fit each other? |

Hey, Maybe Al at American Sport bike will trade you that XB9R (IMHO) header for a ceramic coated XB12R (again IMHO) for $169!!! Kill two birds with one stone. But your going to have to crack the frame and engine to install it from what I have read. Hex |

PS. I've ridden with/against you, and I don't think your bike is lacking power. It would be an unnecessary expense to fix a "not broken" issue on an already great running bike. Best mechanics' motto: "If it aint broke, don't fix it." We just need to go for more rides and spend money on tires and brake pads. Hex

I've seen it on one other XB12, it was also a bike that was used when he bought it. It clearly had an XB9 header on it. Your XB12 header should be the same as all other XB12 headers. Sounds like it has an XB9 header on it. Unfortunately, we've taken in a few XB9 headers as core returns on XB12's and I've got way too many XB9 cores and not enough XB12 cores. So we can't take that one in for an XB12 swap. Yes, you have to pivot the engine down to get the header off. It isn't a big deal, people fear that more than they should. Al |

Torque, Solution number two would be to go with the Mircon header-muffler combo.--$800. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/9085.html Hex |

Hex, I think I'll go with the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" It has plenty of power for me and that is all that matters. P.S. are you ready for the ride this weekend. Better wear the john's it will probably be a little chilly. |
