Mike they look for a "chain guard" so anything that does a decent job covering the belt the way a chain guard would guard a chain should be sufficient.
I would imagine that the safe and cheap thing to do would be to put the stock fender guard back on.
Good to here you have more control over the front end now! I know you will enjoy the strip and I hope more of the NEBO boyz come drag racing with us!
I'll always post here or in NH Thunder about any upcoming rides. I have my kids this weekend so NED is the "next event" for me.... |

Aargh! My Micron is backordered! I've got 3-4 weeks of waiting and wanting. Oh well, I guess that's what happens when you order it from the lowest bidder.
At least now I have time to decide if I want to heat wrap it, or send it to American Sport Bike for the ceramic treatment. And to find an ECM on the cheap... |

Scotty there is a race ecm on ebay right now so check it out, it is not going for much money, also that is not a long wait for an exhaust, I waited six or seven weeks for a thunderheader for my bagger, thought I got ripped off, plus it even did not fit right, heat wrap is cheap at auto zone but is tan not black, but you could paint it black seen paint just for doing this. Get the header wrap. Use DEI. They also have the header paint.
I am not a fan of the coating type. It smoothes out the imperfections inside the pipe for a "smoother" flow, But for the price, Not worth it. You will not feel much difference that is for sure.(heat wise)If you have money to burn do both,,,,I double wrapped my headers.
Yes the motor needs to be rotated out, may as well do plugs/wires while you are there and maybe a new 02 sensor, and a TPS A/F reset
Heard that system is a MOFO to get lined up together correctly w/ all the springs/parts and all. I would test fit it THEN wrap it while it is off the bike(if you can).
Sully had the dealership do his, It broke within a couple months. Not sure if it was due to them or the design...I never saw the exhaust after I last seen him...

I was primarily interested in coating after reading a few opinions of wrap. One angle was that Nascar teams use coatings because with wrap their headers were falling apart after one race due to extremely high temps inside the pipe breaking the metal down. But then, that was just some dude spouting off on the interenet and we all know how that goes. I got an estimate from Jet-Hot of $140 to coat them in matte black, so I'll probably just go with wrap.
I wish I would've chatted this up more before I made my purchases; I ordered up a servo emulator, the gaskets, and an extra muffler strap from American Sport Bike... Didn't even think of the plugs & wires.
Micron had instructions on their UK site about installation; it said you only need to drop the motor like 80mm. So, like 3-4 inches. Friggin' metric system.
Thanks for the warning, Eric. Now I'm excited about getting my pipes, but scared shitless about installing them.
As for the ECM, would one for any year XB12 work, or do I need to get one for an 06? |

Just ask Crusty,he can tell you how.

Tell you guys what, I will put my "wrapped" headers up against any coating out there.
We can do a burn test, No not burn out (well maybe)..lol..Lets do that anyways.
We can take a 1/2 hour ride and shut the bikes off, I will grab my headers and you grab your (bare handed) lets see who's pipes are cooler. I'll bet I win...
SOooo What is with this place now? Has been Dead Dead Dead lately....

I am so at JP's suaret. He and Audra stopped by tonight as they were in the area, they reinforced the invitation, and you know Knee-Bone (NEBO) is welcome. I probobably won't be sleeping over, but I'll be there. Eric, you're close enough to preclude you from any excuses (and his dog will keep the boys occupied); Greg, you know his couch is comfy, bring Nate with you (that wasn't s'posed to sound as gay as it did); Erik, Jim, Mike, everyone else, let's fill his parking lot with beautiful Buells and then go tear the a$$ out of CT and RI on Sunday morning! I'll need some serious V-Bean-food to recover! Bring your a$$. If he runs out of real-estate for you slobs, my couch is open. Just don't puke on it.

Yup, I'm still here...just bussier than a one legged man in an a$$ kicking contest.
EVERYBODY is invited to the Saturday bash...looks like a bit of rain early in the morning but should clear out by noon.
Plenty of food on order and we'll probably be trying to send booze home with people...
I should probably get to doing some work...damn!
Hey one more thing...BUELLTOBERFEST!!! I will definately be there! However I won't be traveling down with anybody else as I'll be in the area at the beginning of the week for a trade show in Charlotte, once the show is done I'll drive over to the Dragon on Thursday night. I'd love to have somebody else there for the drive home...help keep me awake. |

good luck with the party today JP unfortunately i won't be attending as the wife is working and i'm stuck with the "DEMONS" (i'm sure i made them this way). hope the rain stops for ya...and you guys have a beer or ten for me. although if i just had a few more bungees i think i could keep them on there for the ride....they look ready!
