After the Uly went in the shop yesterday I have gotten the S3T out as my daily ride. The more time I spend on it the more I like the motor (stock with factory race kit..wish the XB motor pulled like this), dislike the suspension ( spoiled with long travel plushness), love the sound, and remember just how competent a ride it is. | ||

My S3T is a real joy to ride. Not as fast as my Suzuki Bandit 1200 but more satisfying in "real world" riding on smooth roads and even in the city. What surprises me is how inexpensive they are here in Florida. | ||

I love my S3T for all of my driving (except for the short hops to the corner store on my wife's Blast). But yesterday we had some winds close to 50 MPH and I couldn't keep the bike on the road. I got blown and buffeted right off to the side. Does this happen to anyone else? Blakers | ||

Happens to me a lot....wind=me not riding in a straight line...or leaning into wind and somehow going straight. | ||

I haven't ridden my S3 very much since I got my Uly, but it's fun to take out occasionally. I really know what you mean about the suspension- the S3 feels like a hardtail after coming off the Uly. R-C, how would you compare the vibration on your S3T and your Uly? My S3 has at least double the vibration at idle and maybe 50% more vibration at speed than my Uly. | ||

I still haven't decided which is the superior mile eater yet. I think my Uly is slightly more comfortable than my S3T. I also think my Uly is less likely to get me stranded somewhere. Hughlysses, although I am somewhat biased (since my wife owns and operates HVMP) with regard to bar ends. I will say that the S3T will benefit greatly in terms of vibration reduction from the addition of HVMP bar end weights. I also like my Corbin seat immensely. | ||

Johnny, I have a set of Manic Salamander bar end weights on my S3 (got them before I heard about HVMP), but it still transfers a lot more vibes to the bars than my Uly at most speeds. | ||

Hugh, The Uly is at least 50% smoother by my seat of the pants vibration measurement scale at idle but above 3500 RPM the S3 smooths out and it is fairly equal. The real problem being 3500 RPM on the S3 puts me well in excess of most posted speed limits unless I am on the interstate, which I hate with a passion. By the way, I used the S3 for a longer ride/trip yesterday and during the jaunt the right side mirror decided to jump off, slid down the road and disappear into a storm drain. The new one is ordered and still available for $47. Buell parts are still inexpensive, that is one good thing. Check the mounting studs and nuts on those mirrors folks. It is no fun riding blind on one side in traffic. Fortunately, I had a friend along who stayed behind and to my right acting as a shield. | ||

Blakers, were you getting thrown around on the Thunderbolt or the Blast? I've always been pretty happy with the way my Thunderbolt rode in the wind, but I'm not comparing it to the same other bikes probably. On my Electraglide, it is major work to ride in the wind. I recall a trip in the northwest in which I had to stop a few times just because I was worn out keeping that heavy bike going straight. The Thunderbolt is quite manageable. I had that down in the Outer Banks during a very strong wind period there and I was grateful I had that instead of the Electraglide. The Dyna, with it's weight and no bodywork, doesn't even notice the wind. While still recovering from a krash I spent a summer on a Honda Hawk. It was the right bike at the time, with my very weak wrist and leg, but that light little bike was a nightmare in a crosswind. | ||

I've never had much trouble with wind. I don't think I've ever seen anything near 50 mph. When it's windy out, I can feel it, but it doesn't affect me much. | ||

I was riding my S3T at the time. I am 6 foot 2 with only 30 inch legs, so I am all body. I know I sit too upright and I must look like a sail on top of my bike. I am treating myself to the lower Euro bars and, hopefully, a reworked Corbin style seat. This should lean me forward a bit more and not make me so upright. blakers | ||

djkaplan, You had to laugh out loud????? I had to stop and wipe the tears away I was laughing so hard. The guy riding with me said it was a rather interesting sight and that if we both had tried we could not have gotten it anywhere close to the drain! You gotta love riding buddies. | ||

...not to thread jack, but Blakers, I would be interested in the S3T bars, as I believe they are a bit taller than my stock S3...('01)...I need to straighten my posture out more (disc fused in my back back in february, and I refuse to stop riding) | ||

Need some info on 02 S3T. Found one local w/ 4800 miles and owner wants around 5300. Were there any problems w/ this year or was this a good year for the S3T. Looks to be in good shape w/ the large bags and bike seems to be stock. |
