I just bought a (spare) stock header off eBay. When it arrived I was pissed to find that the collector has been cut off about an inch back. Exactly at the point where it would otherwise enter my Supertrap muffler. The seller has offered to make things right but explains that it was cut off to fit a Vance and Hines muffler. My options are: 1. Throw it out. 2. Put it back on eBay and specify that it has been modified to accept only a Vance and Hines. 3. Get a muffler shop to attach a one inch long spigot to get it back to stock length. 4. Plan on buying a V&H muffler if I ever have a problem with my current set-up. So the question is: Does the V&H require cutting the collector shorter or did the guy have a mis-matched muffler? The answer will determine how much of a refund I should accept. (He has, in fact, offered a complete refund but I want to be fair.) |

i have a V&H on my s2 without cutting. took a Borla off after the C-F came apart. Don't know why it would need shortening. good luck, tim |

Sportyeric My S2 came with a stock header and can, and replaced the stock unit with a V&H WITHOUT cutting my header. I did buy the S2 specific V&H. It sounds like somebody was using a can for a different bike. TK |

Get a complete refund. That is fair. I'd even ask for a complete refund for the shipping. |

I also put a V&H on my S2 without any need to cut. Unless this modification was stated in the seller's auction then you should ask for a full refund. |

My S2 had a V&H, no pipe alterations needed. My son'2 96 also has one. Keep in mind the stock pipes are 2" collectors. My current race header on my S2 needed to have a V&H modified quite a bit to fit properly. Didn't touch the header though. |

Um, so which V&H fits the stock S2 header? My S1W has a header that stops in front of the motor, and the muffler has an elbow...my S2 has the elbow on the header and the Supertrapp is a straight-in muffler. |

I have an SS2R on my S1W...I think that's the model, they use that can for lots of stuff, just the inlet elbow (or lack thereof) changes from application to application. |
