Hello all, I have a great tip to share. If you have polished aluminium surfaces to maintain this is the trick. After washing your bike.Take these quick steps to restore and maintain those polished surfaces. You'll need a tub of mothers aluminum polish(or equivalant),and a common household kitchen sponge.First wash bike as you would do normaly. Then wet the sponge completely with water.Liberaly apply mothers type polish to the sponge. Now rewash all the polished parts with the mothers laden sponge.Use as much polish as you need don't be shy. You'll notice the sponge turns black very fast. After rewashing(Wet polishing).Hose off the excess residue. The final step is to wash once again with a clean soapy wash mit,and rinse. You'll be amazed at the results.I do it every other time I wash.I only hand polish once a year, and maintain it this way the rest of the time. This works well on chrome too!I have been using this for 17 years in the trucking business.Maintaining a show polish on big rigs is tough and this works.Happy riding. |

I bought an S2 with bad pin-stripes and thought I'd share my solution. Some of the stripes were tape above the paint. I pulled these off and used "goof off", zippo lighter fluid works too, to remove the remaining lines/adhesive on the paint. The other graphics/stripes were above the clear coat and buffing with rubbing compound, we had turtle wax brand, took that off with some effort. A final wax job on the whole thing made it all shine. |

Hi all, i got a question regarding bodywork: I bought a fender eliminator for my S1 and like to combine both the tail section and fender eliminator by gluing them together to form 1 piece. The fender eliminator is from polyester, matting in mold with epoxy resin. What material is the tail section exactly (i know its plastic) and what would be a good glue for combining the two parts. I dont want to use bolts for connection, i like a smooth surface. After bonding use a filler and sand smooth so you cant see the two pieces. What filler would be best to use, i guess it must be a bit flexible to cope with vibes. I do plan to buy a new tailsection for this purpose and keep my old one in case i mess up. I know its a bit overdone but i get stubborn once i got something in my head. Many thx. in advance. Fresh |

Seeeu, I got it from a parts supplier here in Holland. I believe it was imported from France but no clue about the company manufacturing these. The fitting is almost 100%, but not good enough for me. I like it smooth so will need do do a little bit of modification. Price about 200$ a bit too high but i like the turnsignals being incorporated. The turnsignals are made by Fiat. Here is the link for the dutch company: http://www.twin-performance.nl/buell_parts.htm Fresh |

Question - If I make a custom fiberglass tank for my Buell, using a wrapped plug and then disolve the plug, what do i have to treat the inside of the tank with to legal hold the gasoline in? I brought it up with some friends and they've mentioned a bladder system, but I was wondering if there was anything specific that I can use to coat it.. Thanks, [Ds] |

I am looking at a used M2 which is perfect in every way except for the color. How much could I expect to pay for new paint? Matt 2001 883c 2000 M2 (hopefully) |

Westy: Best thing to do is call a few local paint shops and ask them what they will charge. Then compare to what a new or even used set of bodywork will run minus the price you can get for your old stuff on eBay. Of course the painter's price will depend on the quality you want. A nice job with good clearcoat is what you want. |

Brent: what's the name of that color? What kind of paint? Was it an expensive paint or tricky process? It sure looks impessive. |

Aaron, it is a candy tangerine over a light gold base. The Buell on the tank was done in a silver base. It is a pretty simple process. Paint everything in a base color, then cover with the translucent color, then clearcoat. Of course there is the obligatory sanding in between coats. Thanks for asking. |

My right saddlebag was developing cracks around the mounts, so I used the ThreeBond Plastic Repair kit and so far so good!

Looks like a solid fix José. For anyone else out there experiencing similar problems with the saddlebag inners, Buell covered replacement inners last fall at no cost to me. They seem to made of a slightly different compound than the original ones. My '99 is well out of warranty. Buell Customer Service may have called it a "good will" replacement? I call it exceptional customer service and a commitment by Buell. DAve |
