K-models were available in 750cc / 45 ci also available in a KH 886 / 55 ci(longer stroke) '52-'56 on the street, '52-'69 in race form. The engine cases remained the same for Sportsters until the '70's, they added the hump on the left case for electric start. The '52's did not have a 'trap door' to remove the transmission, '53 to about '85 use roughly the same transmission parts. The design was an improvement on the 'W' or 'WR' flat head 45's that HD made from 1939-1974. |

Here is a KR from both sides and an XLCH to compare to.. And the XLCH This KR has a bolt-on hard tail, from a tech standpoint, rear suspension was new/voodoo it had only came out on big twins in 1957. XL = sportster family C = competition H = high compression, and they had magnetos with total loss electrics/ no battery. Its cool to know where the XB engines evolved from, an upgrade of an engine designed soley for competition from square one. As for the 1125R, we shall see, lots of R&D and busted knuckles on the previous engine, been tuned on since the 50's! |

Okay, the history lesson is OVER! You know you guys are READY for another ride/event!!! Well, its time for the 1200 Sportster/Buell Shoot-Out Drag Races!!! I posted in the Storm Fronts Section. But, link, cut, paste, spam or whatever! Last year there were 16 bikes total in the 1200 deal, I would Love to see 32 this year. So, dust off your unit, change the oil, go to Test-n-Tune the next few weeks to brush up on your skills and lets RACE!!! NO REALLY! LET'S DO SOME DRAG RACING!!! The least we could do was show up and support the guys(me, at least) who do come out and drag race. Here's a link to the post: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=37&post=966975#POST966975 (Message edited by medic352 on September 05, 2007) |

What is with the displacement limitation? I am running a 1250cc so now I can't join in? |

I bet they'll let you slide...c'mon out anyway. I think that is aimed more for big bore and stroker motors, 1250 is what .030 or .060 over? Come one out! I'll cover for you! |

Tell you what, weather permitting, we could hit the Test-N-Tune on the 14th, 21st, or 28th of this month, for some practice first. I am going out at least one of these days, it starts around 6 PM. Let me know. Everybody is welcome, watch or race, or both! |

Hmmm...do you think the 1125R will be allowed to do that next year? Cause that wouldn't even be fair! |

went on a short ride today to pick up some plumbing parts for a home project; parked the Uly back at the house ( negative grade down hill)... while I pulled the tail bag off it walked off the side stand and down she went! Damage done: scuffed frame puck and now it feels loose like the frame to rubber bond is broken(I guess this is normal after an impact on the puck), scuffed hand guard, scuffed mirror and the only broken part is the left turn signal. My fault, I know not to park a Uly on anything but a 0 or positive grade but I got in a hurry and now I need to order some new parts...what a way to start the day |

Mike, That kinda sounds familiar.... I remember a time last year when i was riding down 71st street on my Lightning and I see a black Uly go by the other direction. I pull a quick U-turn and in a stalking like fashion, I follow YOU back to your house. (Hey, its not everyday you see another Buell rider in this town!) Anyway, I recall your driveway being down hill and I think we both had a hard time getting our bikes to say put. And that is how I met Motomut. |

Drake, Now I remember...a day late.... The good news; ordered the parts today to fix the damage, a total of $55.00 + shipping (and all the parts are in stock). One more benefit of Buell ownership; parts are cheap.. or should I say low cost! By next week it will all just be a bad memory. |

So who plans to go to the drag race event? We should also plan a ride over the Talamena drive in the next 30 days; should be about a 300 mile day or we could overnight and make it a 400 mile 2 day ride. Anyone interested? |

Any of you guys have any idea about this, I am switching from Manta tank to a stadard S1 tank and don't want to miss too much riding time waiting on figuring it out/part. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/306712.html?1189915380 |

There's a shindig at my house at the American Thunderbike Club Headquarters. Free lodging, I'll be buying some beer after the riding is over, I'll be leading rides on Saturday, since most everyone will be arriving on Friday afternoon. Friday at about 5:30, I'd like to take a "gang" of Buell riders to Siloam Springs for a Friday Night Dinner ride that ends up at Fayetteville, about 40 twisty miles. |

The years rolled slowly past, and I found myself alone.Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends.I found myself further and further from home.I guess I lost my way, there were oh so many roads.I was riding to live and living to ride.Never worried about paying or even how much I owed.Moving eight miles a minute, four months at a time.Breaking all the rules that would bend.I began to find myself searching, searching for shelter again and again.Against the wind."Bob Seger" Ride on
