you need an XB12 airbox lid... they have nipples. |

+1 and they smooth out the airflow... Sorry you put so much work into an inferior cover, but Buell thought enough of the "dimple" that they put it on all bikes starting in 2005. |

ok my lower airbox half has a built in gasket/velocity stack. Add that dimple and it would plug the velocity stack and or reduce air mass to that which can squeeze between the stack and the nipple. So I buy a 12 upper and lower box.... Or on the other hand I was killing 15 minutes between going to a family reunion and the OL to get out of the shower and dressed. and saved every cent of the... 1... 2... 10... $13 in my wallet! Obvously its not going to improve the power tremendously, but I don't give an upside down turd, its raining, I was bored |

...squeeze between the stack and the nipple This theory may "hold water". The lid you have now lets the air collect above the velocity stack, with no persuasive direction of flow. The "dimple" helps direct the flow of air down into the velocity stack at a high rate. This is the best/cheapest mod you can do to your bike for the most gain. Buell made the change for good reasons. It helps power output and fuel mileage. |

Back when the XB12 first came out, I think all us with an 03 XB9 went with the XB12 lid. Once your bike learns it, it really does smooth out the power. Then all you have to do is open it up a bit, and it really spins up fast. A new box is like $35 or so, a really cheap up-grade, well worth it. |

Seriously......Get the XB12 airbox. You will notice a difference.

When Bubba was at tillys he dynoed his bike with the 09 cover and the 12 cover and it added 3HP . Little better than 3% increase. Cheap HP this was same dyno same day so results should be valid.he was on a factory tour and saw the 12 cover and ordered one.He was one of the first to do this swap I think. |

I don't give an upside down turd OK, How DO you tell if a turd is upside-down? My guess is to give it the "float test". It should float right side up? |
