And I'm excited for you guys that are excited. And for Buell too, it looks like this is not going to hurt their chances for long term prosperity at all.

Is it fair to go to a demo day and ride an 1125R even if you are pretty certain that you'll never buy one?

I thought it was a little strange that the writer does not care for the XB's because of their shorter wheelbase and the way they handle. His statement that "..I always felt that the bike (a short wheelbase XB) had a mind of it's own and would rather be anywhere but where I had it..." is not anything I have heard mentioned before.

Absolutly. It's funny how many times you read something on ADVrider to the effect of "I went to testride a Uly. I didn't really think I wanted one, now I own one."

great write up, but I would have suspicions about a professional motorcycle journalist who calls a steering damper a 'dampener'.

Trojan...
The "dampener" thing usually results from spell check programs; they often don't recognize "damper."

teflon tape should seal out the dampness from the dampener.

Until it starts falling apart, then it'll clog the dampener.

yup, then the steering will dry out due to lack of dampening.

The "steering wetter" is the little thingy in your crotch area that moistens your skivvies in the middle of tank slapper that might have been prevented by a steering damper.

Then there is the "steering nibbler" thingy that you are normally sitting on. That will try to chew holes in your skivvies during tank slappers. I think if it went on long enough it would chew a hole in the seat cover.

As an automotive journalist, I can tell you many of us are gear heads, and many of my colleagues aren't English majors. ;)
