Just saved myself 400-600 dollars.

I'm not completely finished yet, still got some drilling, tapping, and deburring to do. But should be finished this weekend.

What you guys think? I'll post pics on the bike when i get them on.

I cut the pegs myself as well. All are 6061 Aluminum. The rearsets started as 1/2 inch plate. The pegs as 1" rod.

Next on the agenda is a sprocket cover and new shifter and brake levers.

Very nice and custom looking!

On the other hand, or is it foot?, if you could come up with some kind of fold-out feet first "highway" pegs, you could become rich and a hero to many touring Buellers.

I need to work on a G-code program and I will be able to whip the brackets out pretty easily. The pegs weren't too terribly hard either...just tedious and repetitive.

At work we have a vertical mill with a 2-axis servo system and a Millstar controller. We also have a lathe that I used a lot for the pegs. So it CNC in X and Y coordinates.

Here are the finished pics...I will try to get pics on the bike today.

Dude, you could sell these! And what would be sweeter yet, is if these only showed up on BadWeb guys bikes. Ohh, the envy at the local cruise nights! Something to think about.

Suggestion: Drill out the center of the footpegs for reduced weight and bevel the ends for clearance? : )

I originally considered drilling them out but kinda got ready to see them on the bike. As far as clearance, I've already ridden to the edge of the tire...so the 2" up position should give me all the clearance I need. Also, the pegs are 1/2 shorter overall INSTALLED than the old pegs. So moving the pegs up and shortening them should have increased my lean angle significantly. I may however come back and lighten them and clearance the edges.

No the pegs do not fold, that's one way I was able to narrow the pegs and lighten them. I lost an ounce or two by deleting that feature. Most real street/sport bikes don't fold anyway. And I'd rather wear a peg than land on my shifter or brake lever.

I'm gonna see how the shift linkage works like this. But the plan is to have matching custom machined parts for teh transmission lever, shift lever and the brake lever.

Here are the pics installed. I'll get some more from the back for comparison.

Just to let you guys know....everything works well as far as controls go. The shifter is the same or better than it was before. So the weirder angles doesn't seem to affect it.

I haven't ridden hard yet but I have a track day on the 22nd.

I did the same with the pegs I made for my X1, shortened them, but, I had a knurling tool, so, didnt need to make the cross cuts..

Good work, I made a couple rear sets for other bikes... but, my lathe/mill crapped out, and that was the end of that...

On a side note, you might wanna find a longer rod for the boomerang... or make, would fix you angles...

If you want, I can send you some dimemsions, for a different boomerang, that feels really nice in the shift action...

I have some custom rearsets made by Banke for my S1 and he included a longer shift rod to make the angle right. Real nice work on those rearsets! What I would REALLY like is a set of adjustable rearsets. I think the stock footpeg position is about perfect for the street, but I'd like to be able to move them up for the track.

Would also suggest the longer linkage ..

While they may work alright on street...

...that toe peg will touch down at a track day (I had to shorten my billet pro-series toe pegs, even with having Crossroads rearsets) they touched down more times then I can count at Road America .. not a good situation to have that shifter toe peg touch down - no one needs to be jumping gears mid-turn at speed ...

Well, the current shifter position is better with the new peg position. Instead of having to toe-up so far to shift up its a lot more ergonomic now.

I need to measure the angles and find out what will hit first. I'm prettty sure the pegs will hit first. What the pictures don't show is that the shifter peg is about 2.5 inches inboard of peg end and the peg end is 0.5 inches inboard of the original position.

Those turned out great.

A few of us got some longer shift linkages from BadWeb member Aaomy when we relocated our pegs. It's deceivingly complicated because you need a reverse tap for one rod-end.

Very nice indeed. When you get all the bugs worked out, why not try and make a few pairs so we all can run them. I would be more than happy to pay you for them. Always wanted to try my hand at rearsets but have yet to take the time. You did some excellent work kiddo......

Well, I will definitely consider making some more sets. Right now I have a lot going on. But in a few weeks if things cool down, I might work on a few sets. I'll probably make the right and left brackets identical to save time.
