As I have stated here before, I have a 2000 HD FXDX. I actually like my bike ALOT, but I have been thinking about getting into more long distance riding. I also like change all along, so a new bike has been tempting me. That is how I ended up here, as the Uly has been very tempting to me. At the same time I have been looking at sport touring bikes and just plain touring bikes. As a result, I have been visiting MANY different bike specific forums and reading about the joys and troubles of ownership. I have come to the conclusion that ALL and I mean ALL bikes have issues. Heat seems to be an almost universal complaint with the bikes I have been looking at. I have also learned that magazine articles have very little worth when seriously considering a bike. I say this because I have read many articles about the same bikes I have been looking at and NEVER once did the issues the onwers come up with such as heat, get any real mention. Mostly, it got no mention at all. Sometimes I wondered if the writer had even ridden the bike in question at all. So, I am still not sure what I want when I replace my 2000 FDXDX. It is just as well, however, because recently finances have made buying a new bike less possible for the near future. It will probably be at least a year before I can swing anything. It's a good thing I really like my FXDX. Have fun on the roads. Dan (Message edited by DynaSport on August 30, 2007) |

Going to a Demo Day is a great way to compare apples and oranges back to back. Hopefully, Mama and Papa Dollar will propagate soon enough to allow the purchase. |
