For those running chain conversions, what have you done to protect the swingarm from getting chewed by the chain? | ||

On the Hal's chain conversion swing arm, they just use a strip of nylon, a little wider than the chain, about 3/8" thick, covering the front part of the swing arm just under the chain. It is attached to the swing arm by two recessed flat head screws. Incredibly simple, but it has worked fine for 10,000 miles on my bike, and does not look like it will need replacing any time soon. | ||

I kept mine adjusted correctly and for 15 thousand it's fine. even with it loose it wouldnt hit the swingarm. Bike totaled now but I have pics somewhere with a good angle showing all of the above. | ||

I am not sure about the 06- short swingarm but with the 06- long swingarm you can fit the chain guard for the XBRR. Part number K0020.07AH. It fits great but makes things a little difficult when you want to remove the chain. The guard surrounds the chain 360 degrees so unless you break the chain, the guard has to come off with it. You can also fit the guard for the swingarm pivot from the XBRR. Part number G0013.06AH. (Message edited by ericz on August 26, 2007) | ||

I haven't had any problems with mine rubbing, Although I did put some thick clear vinyl on the swingarm directly above and below the chain. Thinking that was gonna help somehow.  | ||

Ive been running a chain conversion for a year and no issuses with rubbing | ||

I put a cut piece of bolt in the slot of my adjuster so it cannot slip down too far, so the chain can only loosen so much from the adjuster slipping. Also, I taped some high density plastic to the swingarm with electrical tape just in case. I've been too lazy to make something nicer. | ||

The Free Spirits/Adrenalin-Moto chain kit includes a neat 'extra' jockey wheel and mount that fits behind the right footrest assembly out of sight, and stops the chain eating the swingarm  |
