Hello: I was ever so pleased to buy a new '06 Uly in June. Got a decent deal with good financing but was not ready to cough up $1000 for the hard luggage. So for a couple hundred bucks I got some soft luggage at a local motorcycle shop that sells Japanese bikes. But I still needed a support to keep the saddlebags from leaning into the wheel. The pictures show what I came up with for less than $20 in materials (2 bolts & 2 angle brackets which I cut with a hacksaw) and $10 worth of welding services. I will later add a picture of the bike with luggage. The slight downside is that the tail piece doesn't quite fold down unto the seat when the bracket is on. By the way, the bracket bolts to the grab-rails using 2 existing threaded holes.

2 angle brackets trimmed with a hacksaw and then welded.

2 Holes drilled as per dimensions shown

I used a grinder to round off the bottom edges

Ugly or not, it serves a purpose. I too have soft saddle bags, but and getting Givi's.
But I know what you're talking about with the bags pulling in near the rear tire.
I would suggest you paint the bracket black. But a good idea none the less.

Nice!

I have the Tourmaster Cortech soft bags and they pull in near the rear tire.

This will save me a lot of time messing around trying to come up with a solution. Thanks a ton for posting this Growl.

The only mod I will do is pick up a rattle-can of flat black!
