The police chase video cuts in & out at certain points, including the end of the chase. Investigation is underway. read the article: http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AI D=/20070824/NEWS0201/708240430 |

Why was the officer turning off his blue lights but still (my guess) driving at a higher rate of speed? The when the bike gets in sight he turns his lights back on... In Ga a trooper at about 3am ran into my dads co-worker at a HIGH rate of speed. No blue lights. No camera. GSP refused to pay for the wreck or injuries. .... Then when I had an issue with a smart@ss trooper and filed a complaint. His audio wasn't recording. Thus it was a he said type complaint. But the officer still got in trouble for being on duty with inop equipment. |

That goes with the problems that they are having with the THP at Deal's Gap. Some stronger enforcement has turned into outright harrasment. Killboy's commentary asks for a regular presence to control the idiots and instead it becomes draconian. |

From the article it sounds like the cop would lose the guy and then the doofus would slow down and let the cop catch up with him again (playing a very dangerous and ultimately fatal game of cat and mouse). Perhaps the officer turned off his lights after losing the guy and would turn them on again when the rider let him catch up. The article also mentions speeds that are absolutely insane for a public road. Unfortunately it seems the rider went a long way in causing his own death. |

Not to hijack the thread BUT Whose the problem at Deals Gap????? The incident in Tennessee sound very fishy. Police officers are law breakers too. Just because you enforce the law doesn't mean your above it irregardless of what they think. |

I'd like to know the full story on the trooper, but that never negates the fact that the rider was arrogantly speeding on public roads. No pity, except for the family. |

that trooper had a long of complaints from from females that he pulled over. They claim he made indecent offers. Of course it was their word against his, and he is a state trooper. Troopers dont lie. Now that they have lots of evidence on the Barbie case. They have reopened all of the old cases. TN's Finest! I dont trust the THP. Metro Nashville Cops are great. Their swat team did a great job in my house. Long story. |

And the term is "on your house" not "in your house". Metro cops suck too. An former friend of mine was caught getting a hummer from an 18 year old while in uniform to keep from "getting in trouble". He was summarily discharged. Then you could get cops like I had in college. The guy got out to take a leak on the side of the road and accidentally shot himself. He was afraid that they wouldn't cover an accidental shooting, so he concocted a story that he had been shot by an attacker. Of course he needed evidence, so he emptied not one but too clips into his own squad car. Yeah, NASA isn't hurting for rocket scientists because some of these guys chose to go into law enforcement. |

From the article it sounds like the cop would lose the guy and then the doofus would slow down I doubt that a sportbike rider who had been doing tripple digit speeds would suddenly slow down to BELOW the speedlmit and let the cop catch up with him again (playing a very dangerous and ultimately fatal game of cat and mouse). Perhaps the officer turned off his lights after losing the guy and would turn them on again when the rider let him catch up. Simple math of time and distance will tell you that a bike that has/is 1 mile ahead going ###mph will require the officer to do that same speed PLUS enough to cover the extra distance. unless the bike rider was stopping to allow the catch up. Which there IS no proof of since the cop turned his camera off. Which is why the camera should have styed ON. The article also mentions speeds that are absolutely insane for a public road. Unfortunately it seems the rider went a long way in causing his own death. |

A cop in TN a few years back. Didn't come home after his patrol shift. His wife called in and a search took place for a missing cop and cop car. The public saftey officer (aka cop) had taken a woman to a area for sex. Once in the back seat and unclothed - she jumped out. He was locked inside - naked. lol -- The cop in (left state name out) had previously shoot and killed a fellow cop in a quick draw game. Either forgot about the bullets..... ---- Just a few weeks back a KY state trooper took a recent Iraqi war vet from a domestic problem to an empty coal mine and beat the crap out of him. Though he might have needed it for hitting on his wife. -- In GA the GBI will go to each county to set up stings on local cops. Pretty young GBI girls will make sure to get pulled over for DUI and try to offer sex. My buddy passed that test but some guys in the next county didn't! But that doesn't make the news. |

Ryker, Not excusing the cops actions but in the same turn no excuse for the bikers behavior either. Regardless of whether or not he slowed down to let the officer catch up, the rider was still travelling at a high rate of speed. I don't think he deserved to die for it but he took the chance and paid the price. FT, I haven't seen Ghost Rider. Is it any good? I did watch Wild Hogs the other day and found it to be pretty good. Kinda bummed me out though that Peter Fonda cheapened himself by playing such a cheesy biker. The man is afterall Captain America ! |

Ghost rider, is two guys actually. The one is a comic book character which was made into a movie starring Nicholas Cage and The other is an idiot that roams Europe out running cops and then slowing down so they can catch up while filming the entire thing. More than one of his movies end up with bent Law enforcement vehicles. I agree that this guys was probably doing the Ghost rider thing. No clue about the Officers history, but something stinks unless the video recorder was tied to the emergency lights some how??????? But it in reading the article again it sounds like there was actually blank tape. between the tape segments suggesting that the tape had been erased. Peter Fonda does not play a biker in the movie. Not gonna say anything beyond that. |

Good Lord! That made my palms sweaty just watching it. It amazes me that the rider in the video is willing to risk his life to play a game like that. Is this guy still alive? |
