Hey Buellers, I rode my 2001 S3T to Sturgis this year (third time on the S3T.) I started having problems around Newcastle, Wyo on a really hot day. Check Engine light came on, bike wouldn't rev past about 3500 RPM. I stopped, let it cool then started up a few minutes later. Engine light cleared and the bike now ran fine, but no speedometer. Speed sensor was gone, replaced it a few days later. At any rate on the way back to CA, left Sturgis on Sunday, bike running OK when the air was still cool. Filled up with gas in Gillette, Wyo. When I left there just a mile or two down the freeway, Check Engine light came on again, bike was running like crap then finally just stopped. I checked a few things and found spark plugs completely black, sooty black! Replaced them, got it to start and limped back to Deluxe HD/Buell in Gillette. They had me pull into the shop and they looked for trouble codes -- none stored. So they got out the manuals and we kicked ideas around about what could be wrong. Finally Chuck Deluxe (owner) suggested replacing the temp sensor. He thought that this might be dead and in a state where it was sending a hot message to the ECM causing the brain to run rich in order to keep the engine from getting to hot. "I'll need you to pay for the part but won't charge you for labor" Chuck explained to me. Mind you this was Sunday afternoon after they had looked at it for over an hour. Well they replaced the sensor and it appears to have fixed the problem--I rode home to the SF Bay area. I said to Chuck as I paid him, "I'm surprised to find Buell service our here." He looked back at me over his glasses and said "I'm a Buell guy! My wife and I both rode Thunderbolts." Anyway, Kudos to a great dealer and the great service! If you pass by there, stop in and say hi to Chuck Deluxe. Barry Hollister, CA |

I posted after my sturgis trip how great Deluxe was! 9 Buells on the floor and 2 full racks of Buell merchandise! They got $50 from me! Highly recommended! |

I am glad to hear they are still great I rode out to Sturgis in 2002 on my M2 from California and although I used my roadside and warranty I was very pleased with Deluxe in Gillete. Good to hear that some one gets it. |

My Harley riding buddies asked why a dealership like Deluxe could be so into Buells, while another, like the HUGE rapid city dealership, could be so NOT into buell 9 bikes + 2 racks at Deluxe, 3 bikes and nothing else at Rapid City I said it all comes down the the owner/operator; whether or not they liked Buells. You just confirmed my thinking: He looked back at me over his glasses and said "I'm a Buell guy! My wife and I both rode Thunderbolts."
