With all the hoopla over 1125 little has been said about the improvements made to the rest of the XB line for '08. I was just checking out an '08 XB12Scg at the dealership and was pleasantly surprised to find the attention to detail and continuous improvement methodology employed by the Buell team. A few observations: The obvious one is new Thunderstorm engine, it looks great, I can't wait to take on of these out on a demo. I'm relatively new to the Buell (1.5 yrs.) and am always impressed by the improvements made to overall performance and feel of these bikes with each new year's release. I own an '06 and '03 XBS' where the difference in transmission performance and feel is huge. I noticed similar differences in the '07 models, smoother power band, shifting and breaking. I can't wait to test the '08 model line. The oil cooler (increased capacity) and lines have also been improved. I recently had to perform tests on my starting system and had to dig for the stator and voltage regulator modules. These usually reside behind the belt guard assembly. On the new models the harness runs just behind the air scoop and is hidden from view yet easily accessible. The connectors can be unplugged for testing with out having to turn a single bolt - fantastic. I think before getting an 1125 I may put my money down on a 12R first. I have a feeling the '08 models are going to be pure riding pleasure. What additional improvements (not covered on the website) have you noticed? |

All the 08 updates were covered and discussed quite a bit on the XBoard... +1 All in the XBoard, though you may have to search a little. I belivev the improvements also include a slightly higher redline, DDFI 3, idle controled by ECM, XBRR-derived bottom end for better oiling, lighter pistons, crank sensor instead of cam sensor for timing...maybe some others. But yeah, they're all in the XBoard. |
