if you want a fun motorcycle for riding, why not test ride a Buell Ulysses? Performance, Handling, & Comfort all in one motorcycle!
I was wondering why nobody's mentioned the Uly yet!
Passenger comfort is supposed to be great!

I didn't find the stock V-rod comfortable at all. But with some adjustments maybe it could be better.

Mike, you should try a Street-Rod. I demo'd one last year at MB3. The pegs are mid-mounted and the bike has a comfortable standard riding position. It doesn't have the raked out front end of the V and Night-Rods and handles better than either of thsoe bikes (the standard V-Rod handled better than I thought it would, though).

Still... I wouldn't want to gather one back up if it got loose in the mountains...

In regards to the Street-Rod foot pegs, can you change out the riders foot peg position to the standard V-Rod position with relative ease and minimal cost.

Looking at the Street-Rod.....it seems like a great bike for having some fun tearing up some city corners while still having a little more room than the Buell to stretch out on.

So come on, what do you guys think of the VROD.

FWIW:
I really like the Street Rod. 5 gallon tank, comfortable ergonomics, decent cornering clearance. The fact they've been discontinued is disheartening, but I assume you can by a standard VROD and drop in a taller suspension to get the clearance, and aftermarket mid controls if you like. Personally, I would avoid any model with the 3.7 gallon tank. I need RANGE!

I demoed the new 105th Anniversary VROD and the Night Rod last week. The ergonomics on the 105th were just about PERFECT for me, the Night Rod was a bit of a stretch for me with the drag bars and forward controls.

http:///www.1130cc.com/ is a good Vrod forum.

I`ve got a 2007 Night Rod Special and yes,
it´s a totally different bike compared to my XB9s.

The engine and gearbox is fantastic but
the handling....well, everything goes in
slow motion.

Vrod is a really good powercrusier, but when
it´s time for track days or twisties..Hello
Buell!

I have went to the HD dealer several times, fully intent on buying a V-ROD. I love the bike, but every time I sat on one, I just didn't get "that feeling". A new '08 or maybe '10 Uly is my next bike depending on when or if I pay-off or trade my Ultra. (probably after paying it off. I'm a true, loyal, motorcycle polygamist. Can't get rid of one for another... Just need more of them)

I love riding the V-Rod, great sound, smooth power, but after being on a Buell, the V-Rod is sooooo big. But it handles surprisingly well, at least the CVO model I rode did.

Street rod was my best ever gig till I landed some of the Buell gems.

I had 2 days flogging them across the Australian Alps for their Australasian release - with the Factory engineers who designed it and the VSRC platform manger and the whole factory bandwagon.

Ya reckon I loved the thing!

But on it's merits. It really went well.

Just curious - is the Street Rod still available? I couldn't find it on the H-D website for '08 models...

IMHO... Shop Around other Brands...

For that kind of money you could get a much nicer bike...

Good Luck...

I love my 07 Vrod with forward controls and 5 gal fuel tank.

Much Much more comfortable for the 6 hour trips then my Buell. At least for a 6' 1" guy. But the stock seat has to be upgraded to make it work. My wife was only able to ride 20 minutes on the stock seat and I about 2 hours. With e Sundowner no issues from either one of us.

It has great power and gets me about 150- 190 miles per tank depending on aggressiveness. Usually end up with about .5 gal - 1 gal remaining during fill up.

I put 2400 miles on it in the one month I have owned it.

The 07 also went with slotted wheels instead of the solid.

Still love my Buell but they are two completely different bikes.

Lean angle on a V-Rod is only 32 so coming off a Buell you will be scraping peg in no time.

I saw an 07 V-ROD that has a FLAT BLACK paint scheme with a clear type stripe going down the middle...

I LOVED it.... and will probably IN TIME have to get one.

Matt.

In my eyes, the V-rod is sex on wheels. I LOVE the style. Had I not been just learning to ride, and had it not costed so much at the time, I would have definitely chosen a V-rod over my 12Ss. It's kinda' heavy to be a starter bike though. I'd still like to get my hands on one.

I have an anodized aluminum 2006 VRSCA. It does not feel like a heavy bike at 600 lbs because all the weight is down low, sound FAMILIAR ? Yes, it isn't a sport bike, but the handling is phenomenal for a bike with that length and rake. And none of the other powercruisers even comes close to the acceleration, handling and fit-n-finish of the V-Rod, that Porsche motor ROCKS. Personally I don't like the 07 as much because it got fatter (and 40 lbs heavier) and that new rear fender is a shovel, I'd look for an 06 or older with the skinnier frame. (Don't get mad at me, 07 owners, it does have more power and that bigger feul tank but for ME, 600lbs is heavy enough and the fit for my 5'9" frame is perfect...the 07 doesn't fit me as well and the 240 rear tire doesn't handle as well...I think HD is taking the V in a more distinct straight line direction. After testing an 07 I had no regrets). As far as comfort on a VRod, I can go for 8 hour cruises with only the Sundowner seat and feel fresh at the end of the day (don't try that on the stock seat!), it's much more comfortable than my TT for that length of time...and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY TT !!!

As a whole, there's nothing like owning the RACING HARLEYS....though I've been called backwards with a water cooled cruiser and an air cooled sport bike !!! Now to replace my KLX250 with a Buell......: )

if your going to get a Harley, find a Street Rod. I saw several still left at a couple of local dealers today when I was out riding. I still can't understand why Harley-Davidson quit making them. They are much better to ride compared to the V-rod.

sales and numbers, it was our number one seller locally, but nationally, most harley riders dont want a big naked canyon carver like that VRSCR. It is a down right sledgehammer for the corners. Should still be able to pick them up cheap, most dealers are trying to off load them. If I had the money in the wallet, and the room in the garage , I would have a Street Rod in orange there now
