We'll I love my Uly, It pings a bit and has been getting a little worse. I figure the timing needs to be reset or the weather may have been too hot lately causing the ping. Anyway I was down at the Autozone store and saw the can of octane booster (Turner is the brand). One can treats 20 gallons. I figure the gas they sell you is probably the same from all pumps (I do buy premium) but most cars self adjust for low octane. I'm guessing that the good old boys from the oil companies are selling the same stuff from all nozzles figuring it won't matter on most cars and who tests the stuff anyway. Soooo I put a quarter can in the Uly (the tank was full) .... Wow! ping gone at all times (although the weather is cooler now). The booster costs about $7 a can; at one can per 800 miles I figure I'll be using it instead of playing with the timing. Anyone know of a reason to avoid the stuff (the octane booster) or have had similar experience? |

Make sure it's safe for the oxygen sensor. Lead will kill the sensor. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to sell TetraEthyl Lead anywhere. It would be a good idea to read the bottle carefully. |

I worried about ping until my second set of plugs as 20k miles. Bike still pings a little when hot but both plugs indicate perfect combustion. |
