Sorry but you MUST be a BadWeB sponsor to advertise on the BadWeB. Thanks for understanding. PM me if you want to learn more about sponsorship. (Message edited by glitch on August 14, 2007) |

Glitch I may be wrong but I saw it more as market resurch than advertizeing seemed like he was only looking at ideas of what to sell. We might have lost a potensal sponcer. If I was looking to start a bussness I would do all I could to check out the market before I dropped the big bucks. If i am wrong delete this post |

Webmaster Guys, I would like post a survey on your site to do some market research. Earlier I made this post and it was withdrawn within minutes because it was an "advertisement". I respect your right to delete whatever post you deem unfit, but I was merely seeking information, and was not directly advertising any business. I hope you can see my point, please PM me and maybe we can resolve this somehow. |

The privilege of being able to conduct market research on BadWeB is one that is strictly reserved for BadWeB sponsors. You have email. |

To wit, the ability to conduct market research within the target market is an extremely valuable resource, one that is reserved for those who see fit to support our community of Buell enthusiasts here on BadWeB. |

As I have no bizz getting in the middle here please listen, I think that there might should be a little le-way with the policy if the said research could help or benefit our BUELL community. As we all know, competition would help all of us and should be welcomed. If I'm way off here please delete, however, is this not a BUELL riders forum and not a forum too fund ones income? |

The trouble with lee-way is that it de-values the "product" that the sponsors pay for. This site NEEDS the sponsors (or we'll have to pay or have adds everywhere). If the sponsors decide that the leeway adjusted product isn't worth paying for anymore (maybe they can get in on the leeway too) then they'll stop paying for the site and it disappears. Not good. I'm all for competition and new stuff... But I think you have to buy race tires to be competitive in a race. |

If I thought for one second that the primary motive was to benefit the Buell community, I'd let it pass. But this was purely a commercially motivated marketing research issue and that privilege is reserved for sponsors only. If someone is unwilling to invest the ridiculously small fee for BadWeB sponsorship, then they are unlikely to be willing to invest in what it takes to make a successful and honorable business in support of the Buell community here. Hey, I'm hoping that Tzippria will see the light and step up and join our elite group of BadWeB sponsors. Having to invest in one's future is what separates the men from the boys and the honorable from those looking for a free ride. |

Blake is right. Badweb sponsorship has great value to sponsors. Anyplace that serves as a crocus locus for 12,000+ Buell owners represents a valuable opportunity. Sponsorship costs about next to nothing, a fraction of what any business would pay for one day worth of print advertising and yet the Badweb ad will reach thousands Buell BUYING Buell owners. Over the years I've had folks like Jay Hawley and Tat Marcy call me to discuss their interest in starting a "Buell related business" and I've advised them. (some good stories there, by the way) My advise to someone wanting to start a "Buell business" is to spend some time lurking (it's fairly easy to see where a couple great market opportunities currently exist) and then contact Blake. Agree (I do most the time) or disagree (I do sometime) the consistent application of the rules is of value to all members. Court (Message edited by court on August 15, 2007) |

You guys are tough on a fella in the early morning hours. By the way, thanks for the photo. I am writing about Parkway Blue today and it's really tough to find a photo that does the color justice.

The "market research" activity could get way out of hand quickly. Most I have seen are thinly veiled and intended to direct people out of the "research" and onto the marketer's website. If you are unsure of whether you plan to become a BadWeb sponsor, a short term membership is cheap and would allow them to do all the research they need. Besides, we are a weird bunch. If you're a sponsor, we'll cripple our fingers to extol the virtues of your product to everyone on BadWeb we can. I can't tell you how many times I have seen Odie's, or Skully's, or Al's, or Trojan's products recommended to new folks looking for solutions. Not to mention folks who are willing to help provide advice as to what they would like to see. Typeone had lot's of support and recommendations on his products. They came out fantastic and right on target. |

I was kind of critical to the rules forbidding links or posts from vendors who aren't sponsors, but I can see the point when I think about it from a sponsoring vendors point of view. I'll still recommend good vendors I've done business with if it would help anyone, though. |

I have contacted Blake, and I can understand his argument. I have no problems making a donation as this site is a great resource to our community. I can not however, be deemed as a sponsor at this point because I am representing no one but myself and my ideas. No companies are involved in the making of this survey and it is just for some initial research. Thank you for your support everyone, and I look forward to hearing back from you Blake. |

I wonder if it would detract from anything to allow Tom (Tzippria) to post a link here that would allow BadWeb members, who wanted to do it, to go to another web site and complete a survey. If he posted a brief description of the purpose and nature of the survey, and maybe the amount of time it will take to complete it, it would not seem to be anything that would offend me. And if a link like that turned out to be inappropriate in some way, the landlord can always exercise his rights as far as content. Jack |

Thanks Court, Jeremy and DJ. I sure appreciate your support on the issue. Jack, It would be just as much a violation to post a hyperlink to a survey as if the survey were conducted here. A hyperlink to a market research effort/survey is no different in nature as far as BadWeB is concerned. The valuable resource is not so much BadWeB's bandwidth, but the access to the significant community of Buell enthusiasts here. Make sense? Tommy, Thanks for understanding. Please know however that a number folks who are or were sponsors were not representing any manner of formal corporation or company, at least not from the start. Some folks like Skully, Kevin Drum, Odie, Mike Norris, Typeone, and others going all the way back to our very first sponsor, the Bullett muffler man, were just folks who had a good idea for a product that they thought folks might like. One of the main reasons we keep the sponsorship fee so reasonable is to allow the little guy with the good idea to have a fair shot at success. The month to month rate is higher, about double, than if you sign up for a year's worth of sponsorship, but if you end up sponsoring for six consecutive months, you get the remainder of the year at no charge and bumped up to full sponsor status with your own page in the sponsors section and other good stuff. You have email. |

I can see Blake's point of view. I would have never heard of american sportbike if not for being a sponsor here. I was very happy with the service and product. Not that Al's prices are high, but I could really spend a lot of cash there. |

What if the hyperlink and all its contents were able too be seen by all here? Is that possible? If its research then it should'nt be a bad thing right? |

Market research is a very good thing and a very valuable thing. On BadWeB it is a privilege that is strictly reserved for sponsors of the site. Why would one ever imagine that the folks who sponsor the site would appreciate seeing any and all who felt like it conducting market research on BadWeB? Is the concept that difficult to grasp? That's the last I'll say on the issue. |
