Busted my throttle body 4 weeks ago last friday. Rode it to the dealer and they order a new warranty replacement pretty much right away. 4 weeks and 1 business day later - still no sign of the parts. OK - I'm on an island in the middle of the pacific and do cut some slack because of it - but a month for the parts on a warranty job? I'll get it out of my system on Badweb for now. Grrrr. Done. Thanks. But it seems the Harley system is not right. Australian parts are distributed by Caterpillar Ind. and my first hand experience is - if anyone is listening - IT AIN'T WORKING. And my Uly is so tall! Maybe I'll get a throttle body form an Earth mover. |

See, your Mama told you not to procrastinate. Maybe you could have got it two weeks ago if you'd just spoke up. Never underestimate the mystical powers of the BadWeB |

Throttle body it is. Thrill of riding do I seek. But I'm more like the big hairy one. |

I'm still curious how one goes about busting a throttle body.... |

enhancing one's reputation. The butterfly has come adrift from the shaft that holds it. Snapped off. Amazing that it got me home and to the dealer. |

Thanks for the explanation. Is the butterfly just pressed on to the throttle shaft? |

Sorry - didn't look that closely - it was the shaft that was broken. a feww mm before the butterfly. |

The throttlebody in my X1 broke like that but it took me 50,000 miles to do it. Mine broke at a butterfly screw hole. The new one has smaller screws and therefore more meat on the shaft. This is the first time I heard of an XB failing in this way though. |

I understand it's the first one Auckland motorcycles had encountered too. I suspect a oncer. I ride it hard - but not on the throttle stop.....often. |

Shat hippens The (no longer used) bracket that braces the velocity stack on my bike has been broken for I don't know how long. The only thing that holds it now is the air box. Butterfly flappers come off just because it's such a small piece. This is the first time I've heard the shaft breaking though. |
