So the other day I noticed some oil on the bottom of my primary. As I was looking to see where the mystery oil was coming from I noticed that the bolts on the rear mount of my V&H muffler were gone. The exhaust was only held on my the front clamp! So today I got new bolts and was trying to remount the exhaust. One bolt in particular was giving me fits. It was 113deg today and sweltering and sweat was stinging my eyes. needless to say between this and the weeping primary gasket I was highly pissed. So once I got the exhaust back on I headed for the nearest Buell dealership (1hr away) with the intention that, if they would give me any kind of trade in, I would be riding back on an XB of some type. Well, by the time I got there I had made up with my darling S2 and wasn't so intent on giving her up. I did however get a sneak peek at a 08 XB12R red and black and a red 08 XB12Scg. The R was awful tempting but as they could only offer about $1500 for my S2 I passed. I just can't give her up for that little. Later... I was hangin out with a friend at his work and one of the other bouncers asked if I know anyone who is selling a bike. I say "Wanna buy mine?" He takes a look at my bike and asks how much. I throw out a number that was more than I paid for it about 5yrs ago and more than I thought he'd want to pay. I got a chill when he said "That's a good price." I was actually worried that he'd buy it. Logically I couldn't turn down that kind of money for it. Especially when that $ plus what I have to spare would pretty much pay for an 08 12R. He said it would take him a while to get that much together so he might not even get back in touch with me but... I think I'm stuck with this bike. Why do we get so attached to them? |

I know what your saying, I've asked myself that question. I bought my Cyclone new in '97 and have seen and wanted the new model that has come out since. For some reason or another I have never gotten around to getting another. Although this might finally be the year, there is no way I'm getting rid of of my M2. I have had many a drunken argument defending her to the stupid and have invested way to much blood, sweat, and tears for anyone to offer enough to take her away. |

right now i am just keeping the ones that are paid for and getting ready to take on a note for an 1125r. i am only leaving 3 on insurance, 1 full coverage - 2 liability only- been changing models each year for tag and ride. this year it has been 92RS, 97S1 and 2000 road king classic. i might have to drop the king and rs and put the s2 and r on. the maintenance is getting a little heavy on all the bikes though, but i dont have any urge to thin the herd yet. ride safe, tim |

Curtis, I know exactly what you are syaing. I'd love to get a newer model since my '99 S3 has 62,000mi. on it and I don't use it for travelling anymore. I had a neighbor that wanted to buy it last year but since he was a newbie I talked him out of it. As the realization hit me that it may be gone I thought about all the great trips it took me on so I had it repainted and it felt like new. Until now, I'm fighting what I believe is an ignition problem and haven't tracked it down yet. That is my first serious problem with it (ok, maybe the stator was serious), I am guessing that as soon as I fix that I'll be happy again. |

Curtis, I hear you. I have an S3 streetbike, XB track bike, XB/Blast project bike and I keep thinking I have to sell one to get an 1125R. Tomorrow is a group ride out of Glendale and I cleaned up the bike last night, fueled it up, checked oil and DANGIT - she's gonna stay with me. If I get an 1125R, she'll have company. I just enjoy the bike and feel guilty because I've only got 30K miles on her. I need to show her some more attention. |

You can never have too many motorcycles(you might need more room or time to ride) and in that spirit I just went out and bought a DR-650 Suzuki to bomb some forest roads with Cuzzin Bob. I only have eight right now---- |

You guys are lifesavers! After the now weekly conversation with my old lady about selling a few off, I let her read this thread. She maybe understands as her demeanor changed dramatically. The four I have will stay. Thanks! |

I've had my tuber for 7 years now... got it brand new in August of 2000. I've been riding motorcycles since 1976, and except for some basket cases, I've never had a motorcycle as long as I've had this Buell. I didn't know what the hell I was thinking when I knowingly bought a motorycle that costs more but offered less performance than my last bike, and on top of that... had a reputation for leaving riders stranded. I still don't know what the hell I was thinking (I don't question it at this point), but I know on thing; I was right. |

I'm getting ready to shuffle too. My XB is going, but I don't like the idea. I have it the way I want it, but I'm at my financial limit with four bikes. I ride my RS too little too, but it's staying. |

So far, I've managed to hang onto every bike I've ever had. That includes the 1985 CR80 I learned to ride on, and my 2005 XB12Scg I learned to ride on the street. Though I too intend to purchase a 1125R, I never thought for even a second about getting rid of the two I've already got. I'm normally not sentimental about my tools and toys and prefer to throw away or get rid of stuff I'm not using, but there's just something about the soul of a motorcycle that makes them very personal possessions. Let's put it this way; if I were to wake up to a house fire tonight and could only save two things out of all that I own, it would be those motorcycles. |

Trash them within inches of their lives. Bic lighters toss um when they're used up. Move on. |
