This is about a good one. When my wheel bearing failed I had them replaced by a "non authorized" mechanic. He had me back on the road in 2 hours. The spacer was chewed up some but I couldn't get one, I was in Fairbanks, Alaska and needed to start heading home so the old spacer went back in. When I got home I went to the dealer and asked them to replace the spacer and check the wheel for damage. I was informed that I should call Buell CS and talk to them first. No big deal, I go home call Buell CS explained my story and they told me there was nothing they could do. All I wanted is to have the dealer take the wheel off and replace the damaged spacer. I didn't want reimbursed for the bearings or any of the work already done, I just felt the bearing failure would be a warranty issue and the spacer replacement should be done under warranty as well. No dice, "we can't do anything" was what I got from Buell CS. Well this sucks I'm thinking, back to the dealer to talk to the service dude about getting the bag latch replaced, and the fan was near death. He heard the fan and would replace it right away. Made the service appointment, told them to order a spacer and put it in. When I go to pick it up I'm expecting to pay for some of the work they did, but they say they took care of it. The dealer stepped up when Buell didn't. Donahue HD/Buell in Saint Cloud, MN. is one of the really good ones out there. I just had to point out, with all the stories of crappy dealers, that there are good ones out there. |

For the cost of a spacer I would think that you'd rather change it out yourself instead of adding the possibility that your dealer over-tightens the axle, and screws up your bearings. |

Yeah, well my dealer still sucks. Seriously, it is nice that there are some good ones. I just wish there was a good one near my home. Kansas City sucks for Buell dealers. If you break down here, you are hosed. |

LDuly is an awesome customer, rides the crap out of his Buell, we do our best to take care of every customer, it was really crappy that Buell did not step up to the plate in this situation, having long distance riders out there testing and extending the range of the Buell brand is a great asset to the brand. Thanks Dave it is always a pleasure to help you and to have you as a customer. Greenagain, I take offense at the statement that we would 'overtighten' anything, we have factory trained technicians who pay good money for torque wrenches and such... |

Yeah, there is no way a factory trained technician with all of the proper tools would over-tighten anything or otherwise fail to use the proper tools for the job. Tools are expensive. Here's an example of what mine has done:

Lowflyer why don't you go into the dealer and talk to the manager or owner and get them to make this right. I would be highly surprised if they would not. Have you talked with them? |

I have spoken with the manager many times. We know each other fairly well now. I have not gone to the owner because I am not confident that it would do any good - and might make matters worse for me. The issue in the pic was resolved. I held off posting that for almost a year because they replaced the caps and otherwise resolved the problem. They have just exceeded my patience with the latest turn of events. I have been very cordial and very understanding, but also insist each time that they fix their ups. |
