Has anyone installed a Mikuni Flatslide carb on their tuber? How did it go? I have access to one and I'll probably give it a go. Any installation/packaging issues? |

I installed a 45 on my 99 M2 and had no mounting issues with the carb. I had some issues with the throttle cable and carb. cable bracket. The bracket thimbles were shorter then original carb. so i cut some thimbles off S&S brackets i had laying around and brazed them on the Mikuni's bracket. Now keep in mind there was now carb kit(45mm) offered for Buell so i ordered carb and air cleaner kit for an old Evo. There might be a kit(42MM) which would make everything alot easier. Radon |

Focusman, Hands down best upgrade for a tuber "outside the engine." Installation is straight forward and it should work Ok with your stock cables. FYI-make sure you check the pilot and main jets to make sure they are not the leaner sportster jets, as the 42 easy kit is interchangeable with the buell and sportster (at least with pre-99 tubers) |

I have a 42 on my S1W. While it doesn't add any HP, the throttle response is MUCH crisper. My S3T feels like a pig off the line comparatively. |

I thought about the Mikuni, but when I started commuting over this really bumpy road, I have to wonder. My understanding is, the CV "smooths out" the throttle cable 'signals' to the slide. This could be a good thing commuting on a bumpy freeway, where the bumps could cause you to unintentionally move the throttle a bit every time you hit a bump. It would make it worse. I commute a LOT more than I 'sport ride'. Maybe a good compromise would be a Bobby Wood re-worked CV carb? About $100 cheaper than a Mikuni "Easy-Kit". Guaranteed to fit, if it's your own original carb, reworked... Anybody have any experience with Wood Performance Carbs? |

Focusman I have done HSR42 upgrades on 96S1 and 99S3(FI). Both where improvements in power delivery and drive ability. Joe |

Hands down, one of the best upgrades I have done, user friendly, throttle response is great. Fit right up on my 00 M-2. |

I run Mikuni 42's on both my tubers, I think the throttle response is much crisper than with the stock CV's. rt |
