Hey guys. I rode a little bit today and when I came back I was playing with the suspension settings. Then I noticed that the front left corner of my Cherry Bomb Red translucent airbox cover is cracked around the bolt! I think it's cracked from the bolt hole right to the edge of the airbox cover. Now I did not have the cover off. The last time it was touched was at the 1,000 mile service (about 1,100 miles and I now have about 4,500 on it). So my question is, will this be replaced under warranty? It should be replaced because it is not a maintenance item and it wasn't my doing. I'm guessing the vibration played a big part in the crack. My bike is garage kept and the only time it really sits out in the sun is when I ride it to work so the heat shouldn't have been the sole cause. |

Overtightened bolt. F'n Buells are so unreliable. Do a search on SkyFrog or Skyguys posts. Doom is coming! |

If the dealer overtightened it it took 3,000 miles for it to effect the plastic. The rest of that stuff you typed...I'm lost. |

The plastic is covered under warranty. I have been through 4, yes...4, air box covers. . On this last one I changed over to a solid black cover and wind screen. Yes, the replacements are covered under warranty and YES that ARE FAMILIAR with the problem. When I spoke to Buell Tech they asked me a couple of questions about my fueling habits and whether or not I attached a tank bag. They also did indicate to me that the chemical makeup had been changed in the translucent airbox covers between '07 and '08. I opted away from the translucent to a solid color. When you tap the plastic you can hear the difference. The short answer is that its covered by warranty! Mark Z. |
