This is my (obviously) photoshopified prediction of the 1125r! This is based on reading spec sheets, forum posts, and having to much freetime on lunch.

Do you think those jets will be able to keep up?

Well, since those are Russian-made SU27s, they'll probably start throwing parts soon, so, yeah, the Buell will not only keep up, but pass them.

Ha I guess the bike would crush them.... I should have known those big red stars on the wings were not US markings.... if it helps I did take them off and replace them with pegasus icons....but i guess they r too small and blurred now to tell...

Well, the man in yellow is a Catapult Officer, which you'll only find on an American carrier. So, I'm left wondering where the two Su27's fit in. Were they making a fly-by or are they photoshopped into the picture too? Btw, they should be Su-33's as that is the Russian naval version of the Su27. Therefore, it is my humble opinion that the only real objects in the photo are the man and the 1125R.

BuellSh*t, you could be my wingman any day. Funny, brings back the old Top Gun arguments from Way back (ie Why the hell were the American tigersharks carrying French Exocet anti-ship missiles and who painted them black with that gawdy SOVIET red star; and then put them over the Indian Ocean? )
*Was going to call BS on the SU-33 as a naval platform, as the Soviets and their red star never launched it off the Adm Kuznetsov, but it looks like the RUSSIANS did get around to it.

The Admiral Kuznetsov is still in service and still launching SU-33s into the North Sea. It spends a lot of time tied up to the dock, due to budgetary constraints, but it is indeed an active ship in the Russian navy, and probably will be as late as 2030.
The jet pictured is not an SU-33. The SU-33 has short canards in front of the main wings. It looks like your good ol' garden-variety Sukhoi SU-27 Flanker.
BTW, nice photoshop montage, K2.

Ummmm, yea

I suspect since Russia has claimed the North Pole, with it's vast oil reserves, they will be able to spend more time at sea.

The H-D dealer in Moscow has quite an operation and the owner is a real enthusiast.

There's another multi-brand dealership in the 'burbs that would put a typical 'Cali dlrship to shame. 3 story building with one floor dedicated strictly to gear and accessories. Even built a moto-track nxt. door to teach dual-sport and dirtbike customers and would-be customers the fine points of getting muddy...inter alia, biggest KTM dealer in Europe.

And, the Admiral Kuznetsov still spends most of its time tied to the docks in Kronstadt. The flood of petro-dollars isn't making it to the Russian Navy

I would guess many Buellers are arm-chair aviators. The closest I'll ever come to flying high-performance jets is riding my Buell down to the local naval airbase, park outside the fence and watch the jets take off.
Of course, then security will chase me away. Damn terrorists.

When I was in the Navy I was a "Snipe". The airdales got all the glory, but never underestimate the power of the man
(LPO of A-gang) that controls the A/C, fresh water, and is in charge of the liberty boats

How else do your score a ride in the RIO seat of a tomcat when you're not an aviator? (it wasn't easy to do!)

The closest I ever came to flying a military aircraft was when we built the A/C system at Cumberland Gap for the
AH64 Apache simulator. We got to play in the Cobra simulator for a bit. That was as a civilian contractor...FUN

When I was still in I had copies of Both Jane's ships of the world and planes of the world. Useful for identifying what
we were "making contact with". That was the late 80s to early 90s and the cold war was very real and very dangerous.

I used to have a great pic of a badger "flying by the fuselage" on a low speed pass of our ship.
Too bad the "snoopy team" took it when they saw it as they passed through our berthing.

Those were good times.

I rode with the Red Baron Pizza Stunt Team for a tv news story. I think they fly Stearmans. I had a video camera on my shoulder the whole time, in an open cockpit no less, and I didn't even get airsick!

I work with a young fellow that just got out of the Navy. He is fluent in Russian and served aboard an attack submarine. According to him, the Cold War never really went away. We still spy on them and they still spy on us. We still track their subs and vice-versa. According to him, the sub he was on even collided with a few Russian subs.

Ummm. You are talking figuratively, not literally I am sure. Can't see your friend's sub colliding with anything and having anyone around to tell the story.

Ah, no, literally. According to him, there were several pictures of Russian subs in the officer's quarters and when he inquired as to why there were pictures of these particular submarines he was told, " these are the subs we've run into...and this one here we ran into TWICE" When they say, "ran into" I'm assuming they meant bumped into. I have no reason to doubt him and in fact, there have been incidents that were disclosed to the public and the crew survived. I am not speaking from personal first-hand experience so take it for what it's worth.

Okay, as I have no knowledge in the area of colliding subs, I will hold judgment. But in the vast expanse of the world's oceans combined with the technology of the modern submarine (and the ramifications of an underwater sub collision)--I am still skeptical.

Its true, sub hunting is a cat and mouse game and there have been documented incidents of subs bumping in to eachother while trying to maneuver in close proximity. Google it. And yes, the Cold War ending was something for the media, but not real life.

Still don't believe me?

Here is a photo of the USS San Francisco in Apra Harbor, Guam (Jan. 27, 2005) to assess damage sustained after running aground approximately 350 miles south of Guam Jan. 8, 2005. If you can run aground, you can run in to another sub.

Here is additional link, a great article on Sub collisions:
