I was looking into buying one of those aftermarket outer airbox covers from Trojan... Does anybody know if they give performance/sound gains? Any personal experiences? |

I don't know anything about those covers, but that thing looks killer. I can only guess by looking at it that it would get more airflow than a stock cover, but that's only an assumption. |

At first i assumed more airflow but i have an xb9R and i put my hand on my airbox while riding and couldnt feel much airflow(because of the firebolt's windscreen)...so i'm still on the fence... Maybe i could cut a hole in my windscreen to make some sort of RamAir??? |

I have that same style cover, Heyfred. The description reads like the one I bought and the price and country of origin is the same, however; if it is the same as mine I wouldn't call it quality carbon. It is not true carbon as it has a fiberglass backer. Furthermore, there is some pinholing in the carbon. I painted about 95% of mine so the carbon imperfections are not of concern to me.The fit is not good. I had to apply a fair amount of pressure in order to bow the cover down so I could attach it to the frame. Also, my handlebars when turning rub the round piece that surrounds the gas cap. |

Does anybody know if they give performance/sound gains? You will get a slight increase in performance if you combine this with an open airbox kit that removes the inner airbox. You will also get more induction noise doing this. If you use this cover (or any of the vented type covers) with the stock inner airbox then it is just cosmetic and you will not get any performance gain from it. We also have a new model vented airbox available that is a completely different shape to the original.

I like the looks, but I'm afraid it might poke me in my squishy gutty parts. |

Where is that from Dana? and what are the ducts(?) supposed to attach to? On a firebolt there could be clearance issues with the bars or riders arms if/when tucked in. Also, any other views? I'm always checking out the latest goodies. |

I bought the American carbon fiber cold air induction cover. Definately adds more pop to the motor and sounds incredible while riding. Almost sounds like another exhaust at higher revs. |

That front fender and fairing: SICK! The tail is pretty sweet. IMO the airbox cover could be more edge-ier to go with the theme of the fairing and the fender... Custom??? |

I think that Tim (No_Rice) would really go for at least the fairing, but more likely the whole bodywork set. I think it's cool, but it's not really my thing. |

if it wasn't for the 'ram air' i'd prolly get one for the shows they have out here... it just looks too... soft, in comparison to the rest of the bike. |

I like that body work. I'd cut the "scoops" off even with the frame though. Looks kinda cheezy overlapping the frame. That "fairing" can be found at Wild Hare Accessories. |
