Paint it dark blue and call it Corsair. The Japanese called the airplane whistling death because of the sound it made from its coolers. Maybe the Buell will do the same! |

Corsair is too close to Corvair. Which is bad for many many reasons not limited to air-cooling and mass-decentralization... Why not just "Pegasus"? It's all about the horsies, baby! |

Aeolian Pertaining to the action or effect of the wind. Derived from the name of the Greek god of the winds, Aeolus. Vorticity A vector measure of local rotation in an airflow. Squall A strong wind characterized by a sudden onset, a duration on the order of minutes, and a rather sudden decrease in speed Synoptic In general, pertaining to or affording an overall view. In meteorology, this term has become somewhat specialized in referring to the use of meteorological data obtained simultaneously over a wide area for the purpose of obtaining a comprehensive and nearly instantaneous picture of the state of the atmosphere. Thus, to a meteorologist, "synoptic" takes on the additional connotation of simultaneity Radiance In radiometry, a measure of the intrinsic radiant intensity emitted by a radiator in a given direction. Rawin A method of winds aloft observation accomplished by tracking a balloon-borne radar target or radiosonde with either radar or a radio theodolite. Rockoon A high-altitude sounding system consisting of a small solid-propellant research rocket carried aloft by a large plastic balloon. The rocket is fired near the maximum altitude of the balloon flight. disclamier - if you pick the names I give - I want a free 1125r or at least a good deal see more at http://www.novalynx.com/glossary-u.html (Message edited by ryker77 on July 23, 2007) |

I was trawling through the US Patent & Trademark office web site (essential reading for insomniacs), and noticed that Buell have trademarked the Hellfire and Warhawk names, but no sign of a TM for 1125R. Curious |

I don't think Buell wants to be associated with anything Ford... Wrong. H-D and Ford have been friends for quite some time. Off the top of my head, the injectors and the O2 sensor is made by Ford. |

But the Phanton turned like a brick . Trust me... I was at an air show at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska... I saw a Phantom with an F18 Blue Angels plane turning inside of it and an F16 turning inside of that. All entered the turn at the same speed. The 18 made it 180 degrees in about 1/3 the width and the 16 in about 1/4 the width. They said the turn radius at that speed for the Phantom was four miles. That was a great airshow... I got to see the Blue Angels doing the Missing Man and the starburst from the base CO's seat . I agree that Phantom is a cool name though . I don't mean to rain on your parade or anything... |

Wrong. H-D and Ford have been friends for quite some time. Well that's just tragic. Ford gets credit for the new Mustangs...but who wants any association to the sh*tb0x that was the Corsica? |

What about 1125 Starfighter F-104 Given the terrible reputation and accident record of the Starfighter 'widowmaker' I don't think it would be very suitable name for a bike. It sure did sound nice at low level though |

Get international about it.. Say something like.. Buell 1125r Sacro Merda! (Italian) Buell 1125r Opprimo.. (Latin) Buell 1125r Vox Umbra (more Latin) Buell 1125r Vaffanculo (Italian again) Ok, back to English.. Buell 1125r Night Shade.. I think the Buell 1125r Screaming Orgasm (on the other hand) sounds a little too.. uh.. yeah.. you know .. |

Trojan- I guess I didn't do much research... It sounds cool Most of my experience with older Aircraft was at Edwards AFB the F-111 Test, B-52 0003, SR-71, F-4 Drones, C-130, C-141 etc.. But the F-104 was before my time... |

A nick-name given to the F-4 Phantom by its crews was Double-Ugly (also Rhino). With those massive side intakes, maybe this is the best name for the 1125R. |

This thread reminds me of that Simpsons' episode where Homer's long lost twin brother Herbert Powell is leading a meeting where they are trying to name/design a new car and they all keep coming up with wimpy names. Then Herbie tells Homer to design him a car |
