Was wondering if any of the Buell racers are going to be at Mid-Ohio this weekend? I've checked the Qualifying list and haven't seen any yet.... I would be surprised since its such an awesome track and perfect for Buells.It's also the best Fan track I've ever been to. | ||

Hello guys. I just wanted to give you a little update regarding Mid-Ohio. Qualifying went pretty well considering I had never been to the track before. I started 25th out of 45. I knew though that if i got a good start I could latch on to some faster guys and follow them around. I got a good start, but I got pinched down going into turn 1 and had to take the blend road. I was worried the AMA was going to meatball me for cutting the course (even though it was not an advantage) so I backed off to get back to somewhere around where I qualified. I let too many people through though and got stuck behind people that were slower and had to start picking my way back through. Once the field got spread out I was able to get past people. On about lap six, I went under a guy in turn one, but it gave me a bad angle. The front was sliding, I saved it once but not the second time. The bike slid out and my race was done. I'm very disappointed but unhurt, the bike is not. We'll still be at VIR though in a couple weeks. "ref" was a big help and the bikes had no problems all weekend. By the way, the results posted above are from Daytona, not Mid-Ohio. | ||

Glad to hear you're OK Walt, and that's too bad you didn't get to finish, but you're out there and racing in the AMA, so that, in itself, is something to be proud of. I was watching the live times on the AMA site, and my heart sank when I saw you listed as "crashed". From that listing, there was no way to tell if you just low-sided into a muddy infield or hit a wall. Since it didn't look like they yellow flagged it, I was optimistic it wasn't bad, but good to see you check in confirm you're okay. Best of luck at VIR! Maybe we can get some people excited and planning to attend that one if you'll be there. | ||

Well I have bit my tongue for a few days now so as to try to be civil. I guess I have to ask by what experience or background do you (ITHACA280) feel so inclined to regard our effort at Mid-Ohio as "pitiful". Easy gentlemen, Pitiful was a poor choice of words, how about disappointed, or too eager for a Buell win. I do understand the hard work, my experience is with H&H racing in WERA out of Ohio. I was there to cheer on the men and there Buell's and did so. Everybody loves an underdog, and for now the Buell's are it. Walt has expressed many times on here his desire to win and he his making efforts that you can not even imagine against competition that you can not even imagine to do so. He is racing in the most competitive class in which Buells are allowed to race, and this is his first year racing in that class. How many races have YOU won against world-class competition who spend millions while you have only what time and money you can scrape together from your day-job? If you agree that such an effort is pitiful, then you are ignorant. Should he choose, Walt could win in many, many other classes that are being raced in this country, but he chooses to compete at the highest level. If you are not in awe of that effort, then you are ignorant. | ||

The only part that was a "poor choice of words" was the first and last ones in your post, and of course, all those in between. It was apparent to this reader that the insult was far more than just an inability to find the correct diction, as you try to insinuate. Rather, it seemed like you were cutting down Walt and Bison Racing..."pitiful" really describes your attitude that came through loud and clear in your first post before you started crawfishing. You have no idea about the sacrifices in money and time (away from his job, wife and kids) that Walt expends to go racing at this level...AMA FX isn't WERA. This is the big leagues. Insulting guys that are out there in the mix as much as their time and resources will allow should never be acceptable. A little due diligence shows that Walt's a first-class racer. | ||

Mark me down on the side of being very proud of Walt and Bison Racing. When half the world was talking these guys were out doing. Both Walt and everyone associated with Bison have proven themselves to be cordial, true gentlemen and just basically nice folks. That earns points with me. I've watched many folks come and go in the Buell world over the years and Walt and Bison Racing are folks I am very proud to have representing Buell. I went through college as a competitive gymnast and I know the thrill of standing atop a podium getting the gold and having my ass summarily kicked the following week. Racing is perhaps the most fickle of competitions, demanding that man, machine and a host of other variables perform at peak level and precisely the same time. All of the WERA/CCS/ASRA racers that I know make huge sacrifices in order to go out and participate. It is not cheap or easy and takes real grit and determination to chase a championship at any level. Good job guys. In a world full of bench racers we have several of the real deals here on BadWeB. | ||

I may be a bit behind here, but I was there and you guys were tearing ass as I saw it. Any time you pass one to two bikes per lap you are 'Gettin it Done'. Poor starts happen. I was on the long straight under the trees, and you were making excellent progress till you went down. I was by the pit area a couple times.(Buell shirt and Hat) Excellent showing! | ||

I was there and it was a pitiful showing, however there were quite a few Buell riders that went to enjoy the race. 1125R for next season? I dont believe the 1125 can run in FX. Am I wrong? | ||

I dont believe the 1125 can run in FX. Am I wrong? You are not wrong. Unless AMA changes it's rules, there aren't any classes that it can run in, unless they sleeve the piston down to 1000 ccs. It could run in WSB though, which allows for up to 1200 ccs. | ||

I have a hard time listening to criticisms from folks who really don't have a clue about what is required to race at the level they're racing. 'nuf said. Good job guys! Ithaca280's 'poor choice of words' could in part be attributed to our new standard of Pithy = good. More words would have explained that he didn't think that Walt and Bison were "pitiful", but that Buell/HD were pitiful for not giving him more support. Thank you Jimidan, that is exactly what I meant. It was pitiful to see the support and money the other teams had. HD should have more money than all of them and should be planted solidly behind Walt. It's like David taking on Goliath with a tooth pick. Every time Walt passed someone, I was elated and when he crashed I was sick. You would think that with the common goal all in here have, we could drum up enough money and support to help make a difference. |
