What is the best exhaust in everyone's opinion for a firebolt? Dont forget, I want it to be as loud as possible! Seriously! I am thinking of getting a Special Ops pipe. What are your thoughts on that as well?

The thing is If I get the force or the d&d I would have to do other mods just to make it run right, wouldnt I? I dont really want to do all that. The guy at the drummer place said that all Id have to do is plug and play with his, the same with the Special Ops. IDK! I found a video on youtube of both and they both sound about the same. the same guy in the video had both he said that the only difference was that the drummer looked better. So, yeah...Idk what to do!

I have a D&D and it is LOUD! Sounds just beautiful...better than many Harley's... haven't heard the force yet though

I have been running it stock except for the K&N filter...and its been running ALRIGHT...but it deffinitely seems as though its got a lot more hiding away until a remapped race ECM will let it loose..

Creeker said that his xb9s w/D&D is running perfect after: K&N air filter, Open airbox, tps reset, and Al of American Sport Bike remapped his race ecm...

Thats the thing though. I dont know if I want to spend all that money on an ecm and air filter. If I can just get a D&D and do nothing else to bike and it run good..then I would. Ive heard alot of things about D&D being awsomely loud. I wouldnt mind that all. Do you think if I just got the D&D and did nothing else it would sound good and run fine? I found a video of a Special Ops and a Drummer online and it sounded pretty good. If I could Id love to hear a D&D but i dont know where... IDK what to do!

well right now i'm just running the D&D and the K&N(the k&n probably isn't that important) and like i said earlier its running ALRIGHT(sounds awesome with good power in the midrange) but it wont reach its full potential without the ECM...

For some really great info on ALL the exhaust systems for the xb12 and xb9 go to americansportbike.com and click on "The long awaited XB Exhaust Shootout Test Report is here!!!" They also have sound clips of almost ALL the xb exhaust systems including the D&D, Drummer, Special Ops, Buell Race muffler and more...

Thanks man. I checked it out and the damn thing wont let me listen to the mp3's It wont let me even open it? IDK, So when you say "alright" do mean that it is running the same? Or can you feel a power loss? Do you mean that when you get the ecm that it will just give it even more power?

well right now your bike is running a relatively flat powercurve with very little jumps or dips...the D&D on the other hand has a slightly weaker low and high end with a big jump in midrange torque and HP. the stock computer cannot really feed the engine with enough fuel at the high output midrange and so at the RPM range where the D&D should be pulling the bike really hard it is only giving a slight performance boost..it might be running lean too but i honestly dont know when a bike is running lean or rich.
It still sounds Awesome though
Oh and a while ago i found a vid on youtube of a lightning with a D&D on it...i think i searched BUELL D&D

Thanks man. Right after I got off here yesterday i found that exact same video! haha. I finally got the mp3's to work too! So as far as you can tell the bike never lost power, right? i just isnt pulling any harder with just the slip-on pipe. Am I understanding you?

yeah it sounds beautiful huh...
this is what i think compared to the stock exhaust

Under 3.25k rpm: MAYBE(notice the big maybe) a small loss in power
3.25k to 4k: probably equal
4k to 6k: more power...probably 5 HP and 3-5 ftlbs torque(without ECM, AL recommended a remapped ECM, $350 i think...)
Over 6k: probably equal

Also i dont know if the exhaust will make the bike run lean but i have heard that running a bike lean for a lot of miles is bad for the engine. However I have never heard of anybody losing an engine due to a slip-on muffler.
